Love My Montan

I've been camping with travel trailers since 1975. My wife and I purchased our first 5th wheel in 2016. It is a Keystone Montana 3402RL and we absolutely love it! Living in Upstate NY, we just put it away for the winter and are chomping at the bit to get started on 2018. We have 2 sons; 1 is grown up and on his own, the other is a high school senior. Needless to say, we are approaching the empty nest side of life. We travel with 2 cats and go all over the country. We tow with a 2013 F250 SD Diesel that is well up to the task. I heard about this group last spring and this is my first posting.

So far, we've only had minor issues with the camper that have been corrected under warranty. Most notably, we had a gas leak on one of the burners of our stove. Campingworld replaced the whole rail with the valves on it and so far, no further issues. Has anyone else had problems with the gas system on their RV's?

Welcome to the forum, this is a great place to learn and share. Gas systems tend to be very reliable.

Welcome to the group Waricha. We live in Arkansas. I am a native but my wife is originally from Syracuse. Any suggestions you can make about a campground around Syracuse would be most welcome as we plan on visiting with the 5th wheel for the first time this coming summer....

Welcome to the forum. Nice to hear you have had only minor problems. Usually if a person keeps on top of maintenance those minor problems don't get to be major ones.

It really depends on what part of Syracuse you want to visit. There is a state park (Green Lakes) that is large RV friendly now. They just installed an entire loop for larger campers with full hookups now and the price is pretty cheap. There are other options around the Syracuse area as well. Another option not too far from Syracuse is Villages at Turning Stone in Verona, NY. For my wife and I it is close to home and VERY well kept. Paved roads and sites, all are full hookup and large RV friendly and lots of shade.

If you are chomping at the bit to get started next spring, don’t wait until next spring. Winter camping can be even more peaceful.

Welcome to the forum! Had a gas problem on our old rig. They over threaded the black pipe between the propane tanks. Keystone paid to have it fixed at the nearest repair facility (not a Keystone dealer) and no problems after that.

Thanks for the info. We were wondering if Turning Stone was actually as nice as it sounds on their website.
