Wheel corrosion

We had some corrosion develop on the "passenger" side wheels on our 3465 that looked like spider webs under the finish. I called our dealer (Northgate) and he took it from there. He requested some pictures which I sent and today two brand new rims arrived at our front door via FedEx. Now that's what I call dealer service....
They offered to change them out but it's about a 300 mile round trip, cheaper for me to have it done local. No idea as to the cause yet. I kept all four clean and wiped off with Protecto.

Keystone and dealer honor your warranty as it should be.

Congrats! I'm glad they took care of the problem.
Good evidence of Keystone and a dealer doing the right thing. Just like they did with my unit, and scores of other members units.

Tommy,

I'm glad that worked out. Crossville is a drive or 2 from a lot of places. When I was growing up in Chattanooga, I enjoyed fishing at both Watts Bar Lake and Center Hill Lake and stopping in Crossville when jumping between the two.

Hope your Labor Day Weekend goes great.

Sorry to throw water on all the kudos.

It wasn’t Keystone that honored any warranty. It was TredIt. I have done business with TredIt concerning my wheels. They are excellent with their consumer support and extremely excellent in correcting problems that involve their wheels even when it isn’t really their problem. They treated me very well when I needed help that Keystone would not give.

As I have stated in another post I have come to the conclusion that most of my problems with Keystone are the result of an extremely incompetent dealer.

I am happy that they took care of your wheels. It was a good thing they were still under warranty. Mine were out of warranty and neither Tredit nor Keystone would do anything about it.

Hi

The type of corrosion you described is caused by the process the aluminum goes thru after casting. After a cooling and aging process they are machined. Then an acid type solution is applied and washed off to condition the aluminum for the final coating. The wash process not being performed correctly causes the spider webs.

I have training in inspecting aluminum products for this condition.

I always thought it was the clear coating on the wheels. My wheels on my 2010 Montana are starting to get white spots around the lug nuts.
