Dick-- I've done the same and replace mine with the barrel locks I picked up at Camping World! Got the wrong size first but took them back and got the right size the second time. They all were in one box (four of them)and each had the same key to lock and unlock them. Got two keys with them. As stated previously, once you put it in the lock you can't remove it unless you turn it to the locked position. I may try to grind off the tooth like tspoon did. I think I'll just grind off one of the keys and see how it works for me!

BTW...it's a blue b*tch when you lose your barrel lock keys!!! We did once and had to change out all the locks! Then we found the keys...arghhh. Mrs. Country Guy, I have to agree with everything you said. I have not had a bad feeling about anywhere we have been so it is just peace of mind.

Why bother. You can open the doors witrh a cheap screw driver.

Replaced all my ch751 locks with barrel key locks from here:
http://www.ch751.com/
They are about 20 miles from home so I drove out there to save shipping and make sure I got the right ones. Great folks to deal with, also came with cool little spring loaded covers to protect the keyhole from water etc.
Installed em myself...pretty easy.
I am not at all disillusioned as to how effective they may be...ALL locks are merely a deterrent and can be defeated with varying levels of effort.

The 751 key opens about every compartment on every Rv along with the 745 key.The compartment doors are easy to get into.I opened one for a guy with a flat stone. you can get 751 and 745 keys at any rv dealer, camping world, ect. we have several spares. Changing the locks is Ok we have changed out some because they went bad but changing them will offer little additional protection.

Hi!
We changed our locks on our previous rig and our current Montana, for the exact reasons you stated. We took all the locks to a locksmith and they rekeyed them - now we have the same lock on all our outside compartments, but not (hopefully) other rigs.
Happy Travels!

We have the old round locks that anyone in the campground and who knows how many others share the keys with us. Has anyone replaced them? If so where did you get a set keyed alike? What size are they? And were you happy you did it?

I took one lock to a lock smith and had him rearrange the existing tumblers and provide a key for the new con figuration. I then change the remaining locks to match the new key. The locks are easy to work on and now my locks are somewhat unique.

I changed all of our to Combi-Cam combination locks. They offer a 3 or 4 digit combination. I know they can still be pried open with a screwdriver, but opening them that way may alert someone, rather than walking up and opening them with your 751 key. They cost about 10 bucks per lock

I just got my new ones in the mail and will be replacing them as soon as the freezing drizzle stops. Having worked in law enforcement for 20 years I can tell you that there is a class of thieves that wouldn't think twice about using a key they already had but will draw the line at physically breaking in with a screwdriver. I can tell you they're out there, but I can't explain their thinking other than as we face tougher and tougher times folks will justify things they would never have done a few years ago.
