Bedroom Slide Leaking

Have a 2010 3000RK and the bedroom slide leaks water into the closet next to the bed.I have been set up in Mesa Az. for the past 3 months and it has only rained twice. The wind blew pretty good the first time and we had dampness in the bottom corner all the way across. Also damp where the slide touches the floor. Checked the top outside and underneath. Can't see where it might be leaking unless it is where that little gutter piece protrudes from behind the slide seal.If thats the case it is a bad design. Any ideas?

Our 3150 had a bedroom slide leak similar to what you describe and it turned out to be the outside bottom trim piece for the lack of a better description. It is the 4" wide metal strip at the bottom of the slide on the outside. The top edge of that bottom flange is sealed with a caulk. After a period of time the caulks gets gaps and water runs in behind it and travels to the inside of the rig.

Thanks Joe for the "heads up" on the location of your leak. I'll add that to my list of things to know about our 3150.

Have you been putting your slides in once a week while parked? The manual says "Rooms that will be extended for long periods of time should be actuated 1-2 times a week."

I don't know of anyone does that or not. I still have to work, and most trips are only 4 days, so it isn't a problem for us.

I had the exact same leak as described above. I sealed the top edge with a clear silicone sealer RTV and the leak stopped. Used a hair dryer to dry the carpet and everything has been dry since (and we were in Western WA rain all winter!)

Our unit is a little older and I’m not familiar with your exact layout. However, we had a B/R slide leak when we purchased our unit. It turned out to be the narrow trim along the bottom of the slide. The plastic had shrunk and was allowing water to get in behind the trim wicking its way into the carpet. Once I placed a little silicone caulking in behind the plastic we’ve never noticed any more leaks. Be sure and check all areas where water could get trapped like that. Hope it’s an easy fix for you!

That little gutter thing is necessary. Mine got blocked by the rubber flashing and we had a leak. I moved the flashing and all is well
