Voyager back up camera systems

We got the Voyager system installed at the factory when we bought our rig 2 years ago. It has not consistently worked in all that time. We had it in several times for repair under warranty. Had the power cord replaced twice and the camera once. One trip it would work fine, the next not. Now my dealer says it is caput and Voyager is washing it's hands of it. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems? I don't know if I want to shell out for another monitor if it is going to do the same thing. When it did work it was invaluable, being able to see and hear my DW spotting for me. I've heard stories that some trucks are too long and the signal doesn't reach far enough, but in our case it did work sometimes, so that is probably not it. Anyone?

We have the same system. If you decide to replace it, there are two things I'd recommend.
First, I found that water was getting into the transmitter on the front of the trailer. Ran a silicone bead around the transmitter. This is really important and should have been done at the factory.
Second, the power cord on the monitor hung by the little loose wires. With the stress of the coiled cord, it made for intermittent connections. I just ran the cable through a cable clamp fixed to the unit.
The system has been good ever since.
Good luck.

I have read through the years that wireless systems just don't do too well with our RV's.
Contact Tim @ RV Cams, many of us have his wired systems in our units. rvcams.com it is a family Co. that is super in the after-sale support. Lazareth La. I think. Tim is an RV'er.

Ray, I will look again at the transmitter, but I think the silicone bead is there in good shape. The problem is most likely with the monitor. When the first power cord broke I thought that was most likely the problem. That cord is a terrible design! However, it did not work all the time with the replacement cord, either. When that one went south, they replaced it and the monitor will not power up at all, so it must be something inside.
Ozz, I have seen Tim's web site and some things look interesting. Is it possible to convert my wireless to a hard wire set up? Seems like it would be. Anyway, one thing the dealer did not do was submit this for consideration under the extended warranty I bought. (Don't know why) This was original equipment from the Keystone folks, so it should be covered, only drawback is the $200 deductible. Better that than the whole cost I guess, but I hate to pay that out and still have nothing to show for it.

We have a 2009 Big Sky as well and our monitor has worked well.

Have you checked the connections at the camera? You can get to them from the rear cabinets - there is a plastic cover at the back of the middle, rear cabinet.

I think Tim is a dealer for your unit, maybe he can offer some warr. help with it. Tell him about your conversations here on the MOC Forum.
Good luck with it.

When we picked up our 2009 Big Sky it had the Vayager back up camera installed even though we didn't order it. The system did not work. No picture on the monitor. At the 2009 rally we Took the Big Sky back to Keystone for some minor repairs the camera being one of them. There is a access panel in the back cabinet but also a access panel in the bedroom closet and there they found a loose connection. Now the system works faily well but now and then there is a lot of static on the monitor. Probably still a bad connection somwhere.

I will look for the access panels, but the monitor will not power up at all. Seems like it has to be in the monitor.
