FIRE!!!!!!

Came back from town to the RV Park we live in to a bunch of fire trucks! A small bumper pull was toasted nearly to the ground. Reported to be an electric space heater, smoldering, and when he came home and opened the door it burst into flames. REALLY gets your attention when you live in a trailer! I think i’ll Look into that Halon extinguisher for the back of the fridge since that is the “other” major cause of RV fires. And double check my insurance coverage too!

Recent cold has been stressing the electric heaters. Looked in the dumpster at our park last week and there were four different big electric heaters in there.

You can't buy Halon fire suppression systems for personal use. They used to be the system of choice for computer rooms because they wouldn't damage computer systems. If you had a system than you could keep it but if you discharged the system than you couldn't refill it. Fire is a big concern when camping in 5th wheels and most never consider it. I have 2 fire extinguishers just not sure they dont need to be replaced. Will take them to a fire station and have them checked out before i go out this next season.

Five fire extinguishers for us and a big one in the truck. Three of the extinguishers in the rig are from Mac the fire guy and can be sprayed on yourself if you have to run thru the fire.

Maybe not but some are close to the Halon versions:

We have seen 4 or 5 RV fires over the years and these things go very, very fast. We have a extinguisher in the bedroom but the chances are a fire will start between you and the door exit. The unit for the fridge from Mac the fire guy is a good investment. In most cases the fire does not kill you the smoke does it is important to get out fast. The most likely sources of a fire are the Fridge, Furnace, hot water tank and with a front bedroom all between you and the door exit. It is imperative to get out quickly most likely Helen will go out the bedroom window head first if necessary and I will follow. You may break a leg or arm but it is better that being fricasseed.

Our reason for going with a FL. The idea of only 1 door and having steps going into the room with the most probable ignition points. Wife also was a bit claustrophobic with the bedroom up front.
