Fort Chiswell, Virginia
After leaving Bass Lake in Salisbury, NC, we didn't think we would come close to a clean, well kept campground like that. But, we have found one in Fort Chiswell. We had reservations somewhere else, but I pulled up it's reviews, and we said Oh NO. So we decided to come here.
Two Montana's just pulled in. I bet they are on their way to the Fall rally.
Very nice campground.

Be thankful that you never stayed at the KOA there. We stayed at the KOA in a TT one year, sites alternated (doors faced neighbors door), and awnings could not be extended fully and still touched the neighbors. We haven't stayed at the one you are at, but like you have seen it on the internet and it is on our list in case we are too tired to tackle the mountains on the way home (Southern WV). A side trip south on 77 (Exit 8 - you should have passed it) will take you to the Blue Ridge Parkway (it is worth an extra day!!). The climb into Virginia from North Carolina really makes you appreciate that truck, doesn't it??

I don't like heights and couldn't believe that road kept going up and up and up. I figured, "Oh God", what goes up has to come down. The trip down wasn't bad at all.
We will be at the Charlottesville Koa next. Ever been there?

No, but I will eagerly wait for your report on it. That would be another place to add to our list (4 hours from home isn't bad for a weekend jaunt!!). The more I monitor and post on this forum, the longer our list gets, isn't it great!!

OK here's another one. KOA in Harper's Ferry. Kinda pricey, but last "campground" before we head home.

Have not stayed there, but I have heard good things about it.
