Yosemite

If we sell our winter home in Florida we are considering going to California in 2015/16 to spend the winter and visit our son in LaGrange. He recommended the Yosemite RV park out side the west entrance. Has anyone stayed there and how was it? We would be driving from Illinois so are there route recommendations?

Thanks

Hopefully, after this season of fires, there are some RV parks left. There are a number of RV parks outside the west entrance. They would all be accessed from Hwy 140, driving up from the valley and La Grange. This would be the time to make reservations, as it can get very busy in season. It would be great if your son could do a bit of research for you, photos and such, so you can reserve a spot.

Lots of time to do research as it would be next winter. I just like to plan way ahead. I'm already thinking about our 50th anniversary which won't be for 3 years.

Dick, Yosemite was one of the places we visited this summer on our trip out west from Illinois. Can't help you out on those parks because we stayed about 100 miles away when visiting the park, which now we wish we would not have done. As far as routes go, we did the southern route going out so we could spend some time in New Mexico. I agree with reserving early though. We were making final calls to CG's 4 months out and found some full already.

Park Sierra is beautiful and close by, but you have to be an Escapees member to stay there. I think they had a special and we paid $84 for a week with full hook ups and even HBO on the cable.
