San Antonio, TX Riverwalk

We're at Travelers World in San Antonio for three days, just got back from a day at the Riverwalk. Great place, great food. Amazing how the area was developed. Took the boat ride, and, visited the Alamo.
Saw a neat place for BarBQue featured on the Discovery Travel channel just now. Rudy's BarBQue in Leon Springs, a suberb of San Antonio about 25 miles north.
On to Rudy's after a stop at the San Antonio Mission tomorrow.

On to Bentsen Palm Village in Mission after a couple more stops, and a visit with BPV'ers from last year. Hoping to see some of the work on our new site adjacent to BPV.

jpf, you will not regret the trip to Rudy's. There are actually 3 locations, the one you are going to in Leon Springs, another on the other side of San Antonio I think, and one in Albuquerque, NM. I've been to Leon Springs, and Alb. several times and never got bad food.

Wow! I was just coming on the web to tell anyone passing through San Antonio and staying at Traveler's World to look us up. We have been at Traveler's World for about a month and really like it and San Antonio. We are down by the dog walk if I miss you. Look us up. Sure glad to see this rain today. We have seen very little of it in Texas this year.

You probably have already found the little joint across the street... but you must check out Pico de Gallo's. Fantastic mexican food. It is right next to the "Market"

For YA'll in San Antonio, if you get a chance, you ought to make your way to Fredericksburg, Tx.. It is a quaint German town known for its peaches and wine. They normally have something going every weekend and the KOA about 5 minutes from town is probably one of the best RV parks around. It has lots of shade, very clean, and owners are great. We will be here until Thursday and then off to home....

Hey thanks for the tips! We are at the SA KOA for a week, we needed some down time before running again. Off to downtown later this week when it's supposed to be cooler. Kim

Kim,

We are looking at staying in an RV park the first weekend in November. How far is the KOA camp from the riverwalk? Is there any type of transportation that gets you to and from the park besides you own TV or a taxi?

We live near Austin and just want to get away for the weekend from our business. Since it is getting cooler the lakes aren't as appealing right now.

Sorry we will miss you if we try out this camp.

Colleen

Colleen, there is a city? bus that runs downtown and brings you back just outside the campground. I have seen lots of people using it, they have small shelters t wait in, I guess every half hour or so, and the campground gives you very specific directions on which bus to take both ways. They also gave us a bus schedule. Cost is 80 cents per direction. We are about 5 miles or 15 minutes from the Alamo and downtown. The folks here are terrific. They have free wireless, which is what lead us here to begin with, the grounds are in an industrial area, but they have 40 acres of lovely grounds, the pool is warm and inviting and everything seems very clean and nice. We like it and would highly recommend it. Cost is a little high, $30 to $35, (we use the KOA discount card, but the weekly rate was cheaper, about $195) but I like the area and facilities. We just went to Mission San Jose' today and to the dog park out by Lackland AFB. Love those tired dogs! Kim
