During the month of February, We made the trip to Cabo San Lucas, down the Baha peninsula. The whole trip, we paid $1.96 per gallon at PEMEX. We were almost sorry the trip had to end and return to the lower-48 and higher prices.

Does PEMEX have different prices for different areas? They must. Otherwise why the difference in prices being reported?

I don't know if it is still true, but PEMEX used to adjust prices near the border. That was acouple of years ago when Mexican fuel was more expensive than in the US.

I would assume that Mexican fuel is better than it was some years ago.I have not been in Mexico, and I don't mean 100 yards across the border, since the late 70' early 80's.They must have burned like #12 diesel fuel because it belched smoke and ran like crap. The gas octane was also really low.

I am currently in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. The price of diesel is approx. $1.75 per gallon. I have been burning nothing but Mexican diesel for 6 months and have had no problems. I had no trouble passing Arizona emissions while burning Mexican diesel.

PEMEX prices are the same through out Mexico. The differences you see are due to the fluctuation in the exchange rate, dollars vs. pesos. When gas prices were much lower in the US, the Mexican govt. let PEMEX adjust the prices along the border to compete, but those days are long gone. We have wintered in Mexico for the past eight years and have never had any problem with using Mexican diesel. It is very clean, but does have a higher sulfur content.
