How many black tanks?

On our 2016 HC model 352RL, the tank gauge shows two black tanks - one empty and one full, BUT, we've only found one black tank valve handle. We just now emptied all the tanks and, yet, the "extra" black tank is shown as full. Any help will be most appreciated. Phil

If you have 2 bathrooms you have 2 black tanks. Ours has 2 black and 2 gray tanks.

The floorpan of your model shows 1 bathroom so should have only 1 black tank. Something must be mislabeled or not properly wired.

Yes, we have one bathroom. Both black tank gauges seem to work, so I'm still wondering about the one that reads "full". Thanks.

I always thought 1 black tank per commode. I don't see any way there could be 2 black tanks with 1 commode.

One of the gauges must be getting a false signal for some reason.

Thanks, Webe, but I'm still confused about how the "extra" guage is getting power. As I mentioned, it's lit up showing "full". If I had nothing else to do, I guess I could try to trace the wire from the guage to the source.

I did an internet search of your model and found you might have three tanks, not two. Capacities say 50 gallons of black and 100 gallons of gray. My 2006 Montana stated 38 gallons of black and 76 gallons of gray and this translated to one 38 gallon black tank and two 38 gallon gray tanks.

Each one had its own valve. Two of the tank valves (one gray for the lavatory/shower, one black for the toilet) are located next to each other inside the driver side storage bay door near the front of the trailer. The last (third) valve was located further back, behind the axles, between the slides (I have four slides) under the trailer. I have to reach way under to pull it open.

Not sure if the HC models have a convenience center where all valves could be, but I'd check under your rig for that third valve handle. This is probably for the centrally located kithen galley tank.

NOTE: the same spec sheet I saw stated your rig comes with 60 gallons of propane. NOT CORRECT!! the trailer has 60 pounds NOT gallons of propane. There are probably two 30# propane tanks, each one having the capacity of 7 gallons of propane. Propane weighs over 4 pounds, times 7 gallons equals about 30# for our RV propane tanks. Be careful that docs can be misleading.

I realized you posted you only see two gauges. This might mean there is another gauge somewhere, or you truly have a 100 gallon grey tank and your sensor is fouled (I gave up on my gauges, but my rig is 10 years old), or you might have two tanks the the one gauge you see combines both tanks somehow (another convenience gone bad).

Whatever the case, you might also consider contacting your dealer and asking for how the tanks are set up. Not sure what your PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) was like, but this should have been covered at that time. Maybe it was covered but with the 1000s of things covered you might not have remebered it. Nevertheless it sounds like things are different that what you expect with those tanks.

My High Country has two gray and one black tank. The gauge panel has indicator lights for two black and two gray tanks. Only one black tank gauge is used. When I push the unused gauge it always lights up as empty. The other black gauge is actually accurate.

I have a 353RL (same rig except for refer in our's is residential). We have 1 black tank, 2 grey. Two handles on convince center, one for galley grey at left front wheel well. My panel has 2 black tank indicators, and the active one changes, the other stays at 1 light.

Baybum: Thanks for the info. I had suspected that they might have installed an extra black tank guage in all HC's just to handle the few that had two bathrooms. I think mine might be reversed from yours, though. Right after dumping all tanks, one black tank indicator showed full and the other one showed empty. So, it seems my inactive tank indicator shows full. BTW, I emailed the factory this morning and will let the group what what their response is. Thanks to everyone who responded on here.
Phil

PS: Yes, I did discover the secret valve handle for the galley's grey water tank, but, since it's so well hidden, I failed to close it after the dump. Let's just say that the next dump was not at all pleasant. There is now a big red arrow above the handle to remind me that it's there.

Timandpeggy: That's interesting. Yours is the same as Baybum's while my inactive guage shows full. Luck of the draw, I guess.

You might look behind the tire on the back axle on the drivers side, sometimes they hide another valve back there.

Baybum is correct. Your model is like mine (the 305RL) - one black tank. Keystone uses the same control panel for many models. The second black tank LED gauge is not used.
