Trip from quartzsite to the desert bar "nellie e saloon"

For 2019, Jack & David will be organizing and leading the caravan from Quartzsite to the Nellie E Saloon/Desert Bar. The trip is scheduled for Saturday 19 January 2019. We will be departing the campground at 10:00am....that means we will be lined up and ready to go, not "a fixin' to get ready to go". In years past we have had large caravans, so carpooling is a must.

The Desert Bar is one of those unique places that is a must do at least once. It is located in the desert about 5 miles off AZ 95 just North of Parker. Once we leave the pavement you will be on a dirt road, but the road is in good condition and can be traveled in a passenger car.

The "Nellie E Saloon" is situated in the Buckskin Mountains, in Parker, Arizona, on land that was an old mining camp. The camp was located on the portion of land that is now the parking lot. Parking is free, but the lot fills up fast which is why it is important for us to leave camp on time. Prices are reasonable and they do have a pretty good variety of food (hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, fries, etc.), soft drinks, beer and a bar. CASH ONLY, NO CREDIT CARDS!!! They do have enclosed restrooms with running water and solar and generator power.

The Desert Bar is open October thru April, Saturdays and Sundays only, from “HIGH NOON” till 6pm, Arizona time. They also have live entertainment and dancing from about 1pm until closing. Here is a link to their website with much more information and some history of the property: http://www.thedesertbar.com/

If you are planning to make the trip with us just reply to this post and let us know so we can get a head count and can make sure we have others that have been there before strategically placed in the caravan so that nobody gets lost on the way there.

We are looking forward to introducing the newcomers to this unique and one-of-a-kind place and welcoming back those that have been before! If you have any questions about this trip, don't hesitate to ask.

Jack & David

Hi Jack. 10 o’clock is awfully early. Could we make it at 10:18 or 10 29?

Jack, put Larry and Debbie down for the trip. That Ken is such a trouble maker!! I am sure Pat will be ready to go at 10.
This is a fun adventure and might be a rough ride out there as we had a 1 1/4” of rain a couple of days ago.

I'm a recent MOC "joinee" and am hoping to be able to get to the Quartzite area by mid-Jan. Is there an area on BLM land where MOC members are clustering?

This is a cool place. We had a great time there. Be prepared for a dusty ride out . You will definitely have fun there.
