Kindle

Bummer! Phooey! Expletive deleted!!!

I came into our office around 4:30 this morning to do a little surfing...forum, email, etc. My Kindle was on my chair and I sat on it before turning on a light. Now it is toast.

Oh well. The Customer Service people at Amazon.com were more than happy to upgrade me to the Kindle Fire HD. For a price, that is. It is going to be tough going from a black and white Kindle to the color version, but I guess I will suffer through. Oh, my DW said, "Merry Christmas" when I was through dealing with Amazon. Hmm. No surprises(?) for Christmas?

We bought the oldest daughter a Fire last year and it lasted about three months before she dropped it on a tile floor and cracked the screen. We also upgraded her to a Fire HD at Christmas and elected to buy the two year replacement plan that covers drops this time. For the HD it is about $55 if I remember right. We got the youngest one the regular Fire for Christmas and have decided to also buy the replacement plan for hers at $45. If you are interested, the plans can be purchased up to a month after the Kindle purchase. They are both remarkable little tablets!

We just got the kindle fire and love the colored books on the bookshelf. Oh and don't forget the aps with the games. Though for us old farts are hard to figure out because we need instructions! LOL Took it to a friends house over the weekend and he had difficulty. I guess the younger generation just know how to work the stuff. Have to get one of grandkids to show us! LOL Enjoy!!!

It's why I buy the insurance with most electronics. I can break anything. Poured a Diet Dr. Pepper in a flip phone and grabbed a Nokia off my belt too fast and had it fly into the street and go under the wheels of a dump truck. Scrapped the pieces up and took it to the cell phone folks. They'd told me they fixed them rather than replaced them so I had a little fun with them.

Had to pay to have my iPad glass replaced. Dropped it when I was camping in Colorado. Sent it to a place in Denver and was VERY satisfied with the repair. Reasonably priced too!

I showed your response to the DW and she volunteered immediately to do the chore(?).

Square Trade has pretty good deals on their policies for all things electronic and they have excellent ratings. I got my Kindle policy through them and it covers mishaps! Remember if you purchase with a VISA card it doubles your warranty period.... I had a printer replaced using the VISA policy that died after 18 months.
