pickup height
Two weeks ago we started out for Arizona. Hit some black ice strong quartering wind and you can imagine what happened. Very little damage to the trailer but basically totaled a 2008 Dodge diesel 2 wheel drive. I bought a new 2009 Dodge 4x4 and needless to say it is taller. Will I have problems with camper height? 2005 Montana.
I know most are pulling with a 4x4 so I am not anticipating any problems. Hope to leave tomorrow,

Most specs on the Big Three trucks will claim the 4x4 sits 1" to 2" higher, but what happens with 4x4s is that folks make them even taller with wheels and such. If you leave it with stock equipment hopefully you will gain only less than a couple of inches.
Another possibility is that your RV and the 5er hitch might have some extra adjustment holes to help with this. The recommendation is a 6" clearance between the truck bed rails and the bottom of the RV overhang. If you've got the clearance you should be good to go. Even with that clearance be careful of deep dips and high bumps.
Very sorry to hear about your mishap, but it sounds like you have a newer better truck.

4X4 will not help on ice...You will just slide on all six wheels. We went from a 05 Ford 2x2 to a 08 ford 4x4 and although the truck is higher the bed was deeper and required no changes.

leonard, I bought a 2008 Chevy dually 4x4 and it does sit higher. When I had my system checked at MorRyde and had the IS installed, they put spacers in to raise the trailer to make it level with the truck. They're take was to have the trailer as level as possible so weight is distributed correctly over all 4 wheels. Also glad no one was hurt......I don't know if your trailer could be raised or not.......Good Luck!!!!

My 03 4x4 dually sits taller and I just ride nose high. Need the bed clearance.
Sorry about the black ice and glad no one was hurt.
Good luck.

Leonard, the extra height on on a 3500 Dodge dually can be remedied. The three spacer blocks can be moved from the bottom to the top. Not sure what model truck you bought, but this can lower the rear of the Dodge about 2".
