Anyone replaced the factory thermost?

2019 Montana High Country 331RL

The Domestic thermostat from the factory seems nice enough, but it's a bit annoying sometimes. For example, it was 64 outside last night and I have the thermostat set to 72 and 'Cool'. The crazy thing came on at 4:00 AM this morning. It's been doing this for a while (coming on when the indoor temp doesn't seem to justify the AC coming on) so I hopped up to check the thermometer we have about 2 feet from the thermostat. It said 67. I appreciate a slight variance and possibly a need to recalibrate, but 5 degrees on a brand new unit?

The thermostat we have, this one...

...doesn't show the current temp, so I have no idea what it thinks the indoor temp is. Even if I recalibrated it (which I have no clue how to do) I still wouldn't know what it thinks the indoor temp is.

Has anyone replaced their thermostat with a better model? Something that displays the current temp, is programmable, etc. Any model recommendations?

Thanks in advance,
D

I would call Dometic customer support. They hear about these problems everyday so may have a simple solution.

In the manual, to display current temp, you have to turn it off.
Yeah, sounds crazy. Who programmed that into the chip???

They are problematic and Dometic is well aware. Call them, they will send a replacement no charge. If you have 2 of these in your unit as many do, ask for 2.

Local mobile RV tech told me that Dometic new thermostats, that are capacitive touch, have been replaced with 'old school' buttons or new honeywells. Because they are being 'pressed' too hard, the tines that it attaches to cause failures. Our 5'er is new, so I have only had out during the summer so far, an no problems, but when the time comes, I will replace this.
