Trailer aid query

I recently ordered a Trailer Aid. This is the plastic gizmo that lifts one tire off the ground by driving up on it. I just read on another board that most manufacturers do not recommend using one of these as it overloads the axle.
BTW I have a Montana 2955RL.
So, did I waste $53??
