Question about Flea Markets

I am curious about what the Flea Markets are like in the Rio Grande Valley. Sounds like you look forward to Saturdays when they are open. Knowing you have limited space in Monty, I am sure you are perhaps finding products that are useful in your day to day living. Most flea markets around here (upstate NY) sell used stuff, antiques etc. I know that flea markets are different in other places and include new stuff. So my question is "What types of things do you buy and what kind of deals can you get?"

Still hoping to meet up with all of you in a couple of years when we retire.

Nita and Al,

T shirts (with designs on them, not embriodery) for $2.50 each. Al buys hats, colors galore, no design, for like $2.00 each.

I found CD's with songs on them for little kids, each song has the childs name in it a number of times, I found them for my twin granddaughters, one of whom has an unusual name, never find it anywhere!

There is stuff for our rigs, yep, there is some "antiques/junque". There is a great fruit and vegie market across the street from Don West (Donna, Texas). It is fab!

I got swim suits (new) for $5.00 a piece.

WAY MORE THAN THIS! Bill and Ann can tell you more.

Oh, you can buy buffalo meat, frozen, of course. At least I think it was buffalo. We never bought any!

Texas/Florida screens to hang on your awning.

Between the Ropa Usada's and the flea markets you can buy just about anything you want or feel you want....new or used. Our RV always seems to weigh a lot more on the trip home from Texas!!

Don Wes at Donna is a good flea market that has new and used stuff of all kinds. Also a great place to have awning shades and front enclosers for 5th wheels made. The Red Barn between Wesleco and Mercedes is small but has some interesting stuff and a good card shop. There are several big flea markets that are mainly Mexican but our crew has been to them also.Hope you enjoy the Valley and let me say welcome to Texas!!
The ropa Usada is where they sell recycled clothes.

The DonWes market is open Wed. Sat and Sun. I think the best place at the DonWes Flea market is the RV parts stall outside the building on the West Side of the market. If they don't have it, they can get it. The name of the place is MADE IN THE SHADE owned and operated by Dan Biller. The prices are well below CW. I bought a rear 5th tailgate for over $100. less than CW. I also bought a 30 amp. autoformer for around $100. less than CW. The fruit and veggie place across the road is also a must go to. I think everyone who has posted has covered things quite well. When buying your favourite beverage, the duty free at the Mexican border is the best place to shop.

Thanks for all the great information! We will plan on shopping when we get there, especially if we can get RV parts for less.

Ropa Usada translated means used clothes! They have large warehouses with piles of clothes, some new some used which you can buy for 20-30 cents a lb. Some folks go for the fun of it, others, because you may find some treasure for yourself. At our park they have a fashion show each winter where folks dress up in clothing purchased at the USADA's. There are others who wouldn't go there if you paid them. Different strokes for different folks!!

We're in the market for a rear V tailgate so we appreciate that specific information. Sounds like great shopping!
