Birthday Reflections

Well, tomorrow will be my 68th birthday. This has caused me to do some reflecting related to RVing. First, I don't plan to spend any more time going to RV shows. I fully expect this 2008 Big Sky to meet our needs as long as we are capable of enjoying the lifestyle. I have been looking around the parks we have visited on the way to Houma, LA. What I see is a sea of RVs older and less livable than ours, being enjoyed by the folks who own them.

There are always new gizmos to tickle your fancy and stir your new RV itch. Since I purchased this rig, Keystone has offered an new classy paint job, not available when I bought. They have added the new switchable slide control. There are a whole herd of new ideas rolling around in their heads, but I have what I have and it is great. At 68 years of age, this is my last RV unless some tragedy occurs that destroys it.

The same goes for my 2008 F350. I am unhappy with the mileage it gets, but am happy to have a good safe truck to pull the Big Sky. This truck will provide service as long as I need for it to do so. Soooo this is my last truck.

The expected life span for both these vehicles is greater than my expected capacity to use them. Therefore I can relax and enjoy them to the fullest and not worry about any upgrades other than things I may do to this unit.

My God has so blessed me with opportunities, past and present, that if I don't see my 69th year, my life will have been full and meaningful to the last drop.

Well Stiles, in one more day than you, I'll have one more year than you, and I agree with your thinking too, (except we still do go to RV shows. It is more relaxing when you know that there is nothing there that you want!)
Many Happy Returns of the Day!

Happy Birthday Stiles, maybe one day we can meet and sit around the campfire and talk about 20 year old rigs and where to go next. Or maybe, meet sooner. Have another blessed day.

Happy Birthday Stiles. I really enjoyed your latest post. It has made me a little reflective today also. My birthday was on the 12th of this month, and I have had some of the same thoughts that you have. We are all truly blessed to live in this land and be able to travel where we want, when we want. There are so many people in this world that cannot say that. So have a happy day tomorrow, and may God bless you and yours.

Happy Birthday Stiles

I'm sure you will get along without the new paint job.

Your attitude sounds great.

May the Lord richly bless you throughout the many coming years.

I missed this thread...hope you had a great day Stiles!
I agree with your line of thinking as well. I only hope I am as fortunate to have a choice at that point in life.
I see you guys with the 5'ers and it makes me drool a bit...something yet to look forward to. At this point I just cannot justify the added expense for the time we have available to use it.

at the new ones. I probably will still go to the RV shows, I just like looking. Don't know
about that Ford though....... just kidding, I just like trucks..... and my Montana!
