My Stepson just had his electrician wire a connection for us at the pad he poured next to his shop. This experienced electrician knew all about RV and marine shore power wiring. He has handmade adapters for folks (30 AMP pole to 50 AMP power cord) that only power one leg of the 50 AMP side. This adapter will not let you run two ACs or use every outlet in the RV, sort of a built in safety when using 110 30 AMP supply. He also hand builds normal adapters that power both legs of the 50 AMP side from one 110v leg, like the one you would buy. He sent me this link that illustrates 110V 50 AMP and the 30 amp 110v RV receptacle wiring. I would think that if an RV park has 240/220V outlets that can receive an RV connector they should be extremely well marked and/or locked until the rare need for this connection arises! There are two 110V 'Branches" in an RV,

Fauch,
50 amp receptacles in an RV park are 240 volts with 50 amps for each leg.
As for powering just one leg from a 30 amp service, I would be sorely inconvenienced. We often run our 1 or 2 generators which provide 13.3 to 26.6 amps through a 30 amp male to 50 amp female with the one hot powering both legs of our 5th wheel. We use meters to tell us our current consumption and we manage our loads accordingly.
We have even used a 20 amp outlet in a state park to power what was needed in our rig.

Let me try this again.
THERE IS NOTHING IN AN RV THAT OPERATES ON 220/240 VOLTS
A 30 AMP RV supply outlet in a park is 120 VOLTS. There is one 110V leg, one white neutral leg (ground) and one Green equipment ground,
If there is a 30 AMP receptacle wired to run a 240V air conditioner as JLB mentioned, it is wired like your clothes dryer outlet, with two 110 volt legs. If you plug a 30 AMP RV plug into a 240 volt (if prong configuration is the same)outlet, you will get 220/240 volts to your 110 volt circuits inside the camper.
The two 110120V legs in a 50 AMP power cord are split into two 110 volt branches inside the coach.
So yes, the two 110/120 volt legs in a 50 amp supply do equal 220/240 volts. but nowhere in the system is there a 220 volt circuit. Do not go thinking that you can connect to a 220 volt 30 amp receptacle, to an adapter for your 50 AMP cord. The adapter is wired to take what is supposed to be one 120 volt leg from the normal 30 AMP RV receptacle and crosses it, so to speak, to both sides in the 50 amp end of the adaptor. IF the 30 amp pedestal is 240 volts, you will have 120 volts on neutral. So again, if there is a 220/240 volt 30 AMP receptacle in a park, it should not be readily accessible.
NEC 551.42 covers RV internal wiring, specifically branching. The electrician i mentioned in my above post, had several stories about folks changing their dryer receptacles to match a 30 amp cord plug on their RV. They 'copied' what they saw when unwiring the dryer receptacle, and ended up with a 220 volt 30 amp receptacle that fried microwaves and anything else without a surge protector.

I stated that 50 amp receptacles in parks are 240 volts. I did not say that there are any 240 volt appliances in our fifthwheel.
I also didn't say that 30 amp receptacles in parks are 240 volts.

Yes Michael we agree
i just think it's important for us to understand that our RVs are 110V.
No problem with a 50 Amp supply cord, the legs will be branched internally
the problem is when a 30 amp receptacle is wired for 220V vs 110V as JLB mentioned
or mis-wiring a clothes dryer receptacle swap

I have got to go out and talk to my 220 dryer, it thinks it can dry our clothes. It is a 220 appliance and works very nicely, Sue likes it.

Bill,
Its not really the same thing, notice that yours has a male end, so you would need to use an extension cord to attach to it.
The original post has a screw adaptor, so you would just screw your power cord onto the Marinco adaptor.

Hey Greatwhite. Your link describes a 50 amp, but that one looks like a 30 amp. I hate that Amazon does this. This is not your fault. Ironically the first link you provided it looked like the 50 amp description showed a 50 amp adapter even though the gender was incorrect.
BEWARE: Amazon will use any old picture cuz it's close. Unfortunately, I've read reviews where what was described will be correct but they do send what's in the picture which was wrong, then the recipient has difficulty trying to get this remedied. That wastes so much time when you try to get it swapped out or try to get a refund and need it in a hurry! I'm beginning to dislike shopping at Amazon because of this chance. I'm starting to be more inclined and willing to find it at a store to verify what I'm buying just to avoid mistakes like this. It might cost more, but it's worth getting what you pay for.
I'm just saying be careful with Amazon these days.
On edit: with close examination, the first link you provided it looks like that adapter is used for converting the round four pins of a Marine 50 amp connector to the four blade type connectors. There's lot to watch our for when buying these adapters and cords and they are SO expensive. This is why some folks just clip off an end and convert it using just a purchased connector IF you can find the correct end and gender.

Hey Art.. I think it's correct. The RV end is the same as the one on my anaconda.. Plug n twist. The other end looks like the plug on the RV.. EXCEPT.. it looks like the metal strip (ground?) is in a slightly wrong position. However, this pic may be photographically reversed.. I don't know. But the title says 50a x 50a.
Unless there was another thread that I can't find.. I know some folks jumped on this and went out and bought them.. I can't find those replies... certainly not on this one. I remember some discussion of having to take out the plug on the RV and rotating it 90*.

This looks like what I've been looking for!
It has the twist on at both ends. Where's my credit card?

Heads up! Check the reviews before you purchase! One of the reviewers is a Montana owner and states that the right angle points up towards the cover when it's twist locked!

Thanks Dave. I just saw the review. Bummer about the Montana inlet being mounted so that the cord sticks up instead of down. I wonder how much trouble it would be to remount it correctly? I sure do like the right angle adapter idea.
Has anyone modified the orientation of the inlet?

I just looked at my 50 amp cord and the strain relief is broken at the top from the weight of the cable. This is only after seven months of use. I have ordered the adapter on Amazon. I wished I would have ordered one when I bought the trailer at the end of August. I love this forum for this kind of information.
