Tell him to reboot. Kill power to both the 120V A/C and the 12 volt fuse for the furnace. Wait for 5 minuters or so.
Should work if no shorts or problems like that.

Our unit did that when new. If ai remember correctly the Keystone dealer tech had to replace a circuit board in the heater unit outside.

Please remind the guy these units are used in many brands of rigs and that Keystone is probably not necessarily at fault. If this was tested during a PDI, there is still a chance of what is called in some industries as "infantile failure". While it sounds terrible it means that the product failed in its infancy of being used, within a couple, three months not counting idle time.
This happened to out Monty's refrigerator on our third outing.
Sometimes this is why a used rig is better since all the problems have been worked out. The bad news is some owners don't convey what doesn't work or what's failed before. Honesty is not always easy to come by.
I hope these Cougar owners get this taken care of and get the bad taste out of their mouth with positive experiences.

ours did this once when we first had the monty. does he have the dometic thermostat,if so on the fan mode make sure he is not in auto put it in hi or low. our a/c came on when the furnace did to and i read in the dometic manual to put it in anything other than auto and it worked fine since then, we have 2850 miles on our 2011 this year and everything worked fine, try the fan mode and see if that works good luck.

Good news via Ozz and Rich. I would recommend the MOC to your neighbor after confessing the source of genius being that you are a member of MOC.

If you throw enough mud against the wall, some of it bound to stick... another: even a broken watch is right two times a day.
