Roof vent covers

Does anyone know where to get replacement roof vent covers for my rig (2009 Montana 3400RL)? A small branch punched a hole in the bathroom one. When I went up to see the damage, it basically crumbled in my hand. I gave a slight tug on the one above the bedroom and it began to crack too. Hard to believe these are disintegrating after only one and a half years!

I have looked all over the place and can't find the same type of hinge. Looked at local RV stores, Camco on line, and other websites. There is no part number on the lid - it only says Ventline.

Help! We are heading out soon and I need something ASAP!

Thanks!

I've not heard of the covers been sold separately, but I took a quick look for a replacement Ventline 14" Vent cover and here's what I found. I have bought from them before. They have good prices and will deliver as quickly as you need it. You'll need sealant stuff, too.

If you haven't done a vent replacement before let us know.

I don't know who made your vents but replacement lids are available at many places, here's one link

Thanks for the inputs, but no luck. Keystone apparently put a very rare hinge type on the 10th anniversary. I've been to RV stores, paroused the websites, called my dealer - no one has this hinge type. It's a Ventline, but has no part number on it. Very frustrating! I may just have to replace the whole vent.

Keystone called me back today. Of course the type of cover I have is no longer made and they said Ventline is out of business. So it look like instead of a $14 cover, I'll be buying 2 new vents!

I have a 2009, 3400RL and replaced my vent cover. Found one at my dealer. I also just saw the same cover in Elkhart, Indiana at RV Surplus. Their address is:
1400 West Bristol Street
Elkhart, IN 46514

Steve and Charlie - thanks for the leads. Swing and a miss. The hinge type I have is very strange. Wish I could post a picture here, but have never had success (can't even get an avatar to post). Thanks again.

Well it took nearly a month, but I have 2 new vent covers. Turns out Keystone was wrong - Ventline is very much in business, now part of Dexter Axle Co. A local (non-Keystone) RV dealer was able to help me get in contact with Ventline after Keystone and my RV dealer convinced me I was out of luck. Glad I didn't quit trying. Anyway, turns out what I have is a NEW type of hinge, not shown on any of the links posted here or on Campers World, JC Whitney, or others.

Ventline not only had them in stock, but sent two to me FREE with free 2 day shipping. Outstanding customer service! I am a bit concerned about the product since they basically disintegrated in my hand on a less than 2 yr old unit. But at least I know here to get them now.

Might want to check yours out next time you are on the roof.

Butch, mine are a bit older so hopefully won't have those problems. But I am wondering, do you travel with the vents open even a little and without an extra maxxair type cover on them? Or have they been open during persistent high or gusty winds? I'm sure not accusing you of abusing the covers, I'm just trying to figure out if there's a reason for the problem or is this going to be an ongoing battle for everyone with the newer vents. Thanks.

Steve - sorry for the delay in answering - been out of country. No offense taken at the question whatsoever!

No I don't tow with them open at all. I don't have Maxxair or any other cover over them. But I didn't have them on my 2003 Mountaineer either and those covers never crumbled like these did. And I stored the Mountaineer in the same manner as my Montana - right next to my house, uncovered, southern heat and sun. I mean these things literally crumbled in my hand. Anyway, at least I know how to get them now! And I think I'm going to order some backups to have on hand.

I have a 2009, 3400 RL and my vent covers just fell apart. When I replaced them, I added MaxxAir covers to keep the sun off them.

I have found that the smaller vent covers will also do that over time. Of course our Monty is older. I’ve had the same problem on the smaller vents and had to change them. I try and keep a check on them now each year now. The sun is really hard on them.

When I read a post about Ventline being gone I panicked and started looking for the new style replacement covers. Found them here:
http://www.americanrvcompany.com/Ven...RV_p_1086.html Other venders may have them as well.

The old style Ventline covers were available at CW.

PatnRich - the info I got from Keystone was wrong. Ventline is still in business, but are part of Dexter Axle now. I spoke to them myself. Though the product isn't so good (IMO), their customer service was outstanding. They also told me where I could fine the covers here in NC (only 2 dealers carry my type). Thanks for the link, but that is a different style than is on my 2009.

akf15e.. That cover matches the one on our 2010. Our 2004 had the old style covers and yours has a different style again? No wonder there is confusion when it comes to replaceing them!

Perhaps the best thing to do is use the Max Air type covers to keep them out of the sun. I had to replace mine on the old Monty after 3 years. They just crumbled like soda crackers. I then covered the replacements with Max Air covers and they stayed like new.
