The Vacation Is Over

Since we are looking at a new Montana this year, we were talking about what we could include and what wouldn't fit in the budget. Out of the blue, I got a call from a former colleague to run a manufacturing plant in Michigan for three months. Hello IS Suspension, Disk Brakes, Traveler Satellite, Transfer Switch/Inverter, etc. I hate leaving the mountain, but beside the Montana potential purchase, COBRA ran out. One of the disadvantages of early retirement - health care costs. I Owe, I Owe, So Back to Work I Go!!!

I know the pain of health insurance. Before I turned 65 my wife's and my insurance was over $20,000 per year and after I turned 65 hers was over $12,000 and this was with a $2500 deductible. We got the healthy Virginian rate.
Good luck in your new job. Enjoy it.

Certainly understand. If it wasn't for health insurance we'd have full timed much sooner.

I retired at 62 and for 3 yrs health insurance rates were painful. Turning 65 was like getting a large raise.

Rich, I suspect Disney Bucks are more fun to earn than Borg Bucks. but you are right, timing was good except it's coming up on the holidays.

Jay - since a year ago May, we have spent 29 weeks on the road in our Montana. It's time to restock the piggy bank. And with a new little one on the way (Montana, that is), we need to add funds.

We understand the costs of early retirement as our former employee and spouse premium insurance plan cost us $1,799 per month. We celebrated when we got our red-white-blue cards, and even with A, B and D plus secondary insurance we have a significant increase in take-home pay. Hope you enjoy the new job and new Montana.

Sounds like that call from your colleague was PERFECT timing! Three months will fly by.

Jay, we are carefully watching the new 3160. Prototypes will be available in about a month. JandC, yes, timing was good as our Alaska adventure, tires on all vehicles, Health Insurance and driveway improvements are all eating into the bank account.
