What sized nut holds my Montana valve pull handles?

I have the remote cable handles, and while doing some maintenance, I lost one of the nuts.

It is close to a 1/2" with course thread, but not quite.

Anyone have any idea what size it is and where I can find one?

Take the other one off and go to the hardware store and match it.

Tried.

I can get one that has the right threads, but wobbles the whole way on, or one that is just a bit too small to fit over the threads. I bought one of the smaller one and am trying to dremel the inside diameter a little so it will fit. No luck, so far.

Does not match any metric or standard size that I could find at Home Depot.

DOH!!!

Metric!

Once I got away from Home Depot, and went to a family-owned place, we found it in minutes.

Home Depot had one of those tools setting out, where there is a sample nut and bolt of all sizes, but for some reason, not the size I needed.

When I went to mom-and-pop's place, there was no tool, so we just started to grab bolts until one fit. M14 metric.

9/16 is .562 and 14 MM is .551 so a 9/16 nut would be sloppy.

Hi

Go to a NAPA store that handles heavy truck parts and they will have a way to determine the proper measurement.
