TV Booster power

Has anyone checked the TV booster for the effectivness in boosting the incomming signal? We are having various degrees of success in programming the converter box. I wonder if the power booster is not working properly? Any insite will be appreciated. THANK Y'ALL in advance. Don

When I programmed my digital converter box I found that the signal booster made quite a difference in what channels I received. The direction the antenna was pointing was important, too. Trying to coordinate all these actions wasn't the easiest thing to do, so I didn't get all the channels that are available. In our area, a good omnidirectional antenna, with an amplifier, is the best way to program the converter. I just wish there were a rotator on the antenna (another project for the list).

It makes a major difference for us, too.

However, we have found occasionally in a metropolitan area if we are very close to a tv tower the booster can actually make the signal too strong. In that case we turn the booster off. We've only seen that maybe twice in the past 5 years, though.

The booster puts 12v to the antenna head. On our prior Montana that head went bad and the booster didn't help. In fact, it seemed to make the signal worse. The head was replaced under warranty and the problem was solved.

With the advent of digital tv, antennae have changed a little.

I saw an RV with this RADIO SHACK antenna and he said it was great. He had it on a 20 foot pole, but he was full timing.

Imagine placing it on a crank up and never having to rotate it.
