roof scuff

I found a scuff or scratch in my rubber roof up near the new vent cover installed by my dealer. How the scratch got there is another subject. The question now is "What should be done to protect the roof?"

This scratch is shallow, and does not cut thru the roof membrane. It is about 3 inches long. I am not inclined to do nothing. I am considering covering with EternalBond tape. Is that wise, or is another patch a better approach.

My unit is only 1 year old, so this repair will need to hold many years.

Thanks for your input.
