Question Awning Motor

The electric motor in our awning died. Is this hard to change by myself or should I call a mobile tech? Are they expensive?

I've been told it is something to be careful with and two people are helpful. Never done it, however. Here's one explanation: https://www.justanswer.com/rv-motorh...lose-open.html

Hi

I have a PDF copy of the installation and repair manual. PM me your email address and I will send it to you.

Also do nothing until you do the "pin procedure" as that spring will injure you.

Also new motors are expensive I found the motor not to be bad but there was an assembly error and corrosion that I corrected and the unit is working good now.

Here is my post on repairing the motor.

Rather easy 2 person job. Saw a black one on eBay for $250 with free shipping or different seller white one for $335. White paint is cheap!

You might want to consider this. When mine went out and I replaced it, I put some silicone caulk into the hole the wires are fed into. It looked too easy for water to get into that area and short out the motor. And YES, they are expensive $$$$. For that reason I wanted to avoid replacing the motor again.

Thumbs up

UPDATE: Found a loose wire on the connector plug. Fixed it and the awning works great now. Thanks everyone for the tips and info. Once again the folks here come through with plenty of info and advice.
