3400 Storage Door

We just picked up our 3400RL this weekend (love it) and have found that when you have the bedroom slide out there is no way to keep the storage door up without balancing it on your body. I was thinking of adding a couple of those gas shocks you see on some newer coaches to keep the door opened. Does anyone have experience with using or installing these shocks?

I didnt install shocks, but what I did do is get a door latch like the one that holds your side door open. I attached it to the lower right hand corner of the bedroom slide being careful not to interfere with the seal. I used stainless steel with self locking nuts. I then attached the latch part to the door in the same manner. Works great, just make sure the door is unlatched before you put the slide in.

Our solution was even simpler. We used a tension curtain rod, with rubber cups on both ends. We expanded it to the right length and use it as an easy prop. I like Bill's latch solution better though. Sounds like an over-winter project when I need an excuse to go wander around Camping World.

I picked up my new 3400 yesterday, we are full timers and my dealer put the door latch on like the others suggested.
