Hi Larry & Lavonne,
The good sam club is well worth joining, especially the Emergency Road service. ... I think the fee is around $70.00 or so.
Bill
Try $100! I just got my renewal notice!

If you want to see how much Good Sam saves stay at Rock Crusher Canyon Resort in Crystal River Florida. The savings for one night will save a years worth of dues for Good Sam. I highly recommend this resort!! We stay for at least 1 month every winter. Sites are large, services are great, and the people that run the place are terrific.

We have the Good Sam Club membership, the extra warranty coverage they offer, and the emergency road service. We had to use the road side service last year when our other truck broke down up in Virginia. I will say it was the best, the quickest, and most thorough coverage I have ever had. The savings on the comparison of dues/membership Vs the cost of a tow is more than worth the investment. I figured I saved about $400 dollars for just one incident.

We just received information on a policy from Good Sam's that covers your expenses if you're away from home and get sick. They cover the cost of getting your rig home, etc. $100.00 for a year. This might be the Peace of Mind policy. We're thinking about getting it to cover our trip to Alaska this summer. It sounds good.

Judy,

Too good to NOT have, don't think, SIGN UP! We have had it for years, and won't leave home without it! They even pulled our TT and van out of the mud one time, and we were only stuck in our own yard!

Just read all the feed back on the Good Sam Club. I saw not one single negitive comment. From all the good things and perks I to will send in my membership today.

I have to say that the MOC is the best group of helping and friendly people I have never met. Hope to meet some in person in the near furture.

I agree, Carol. It sounds like a really good deal and will certainly give me some 'peace of mind'. Glen is in remission from the nastiest type of leukemia (and doing great...today) and I have had some thoughts about what I would do with the rig if we had to make a sudden trip home, God forbid. This seems like a great policy and a good solution for that worry.

Judy,

There is also a "Air-Medivac" type service available for RV'ers. Sorry I don't remember the exact name of the service, but I am sure some of the other MOC members do. They will fly you home, get your rig home, fly the spouse of the ill person home. Works in Mexico too. I do not know if this would be a duplication of the serivces available at Good Sam or not, as I have never read both policies in full. Might be something to consider tho. Good Sam cannot be beat for road service and towing you around in case of a breakdown. Good Sam knows RV'S!!!

That would be SkyMed at http://www.skymed.com

SkyMed returns the patient -- and their vehicles, pets, dependents and companions--to where ever the patient say "home" is for medical care if the patient travels more than 100 miles from "home".

SkyMed Serves the USA, Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Canada and the Caribbean.

It's expensive, but if you need to use the plan, it certainly pays for itself several times over.

Margee and Doug,

YEP, that is it! We heard a few testamonies about it, and presentations too. I heard of one case where they drove the RV back to the home base, the patient to one city and the spouse to another. Don't recall the total details, but that was what they did. Might be a cause of the hubby died and the wife wanted to go home to her kids or something like that.

The people that we have heard talk about it are very enthusiastic and could not praise this service enough, said the company was extremely compasionate and helpful.

Like I said, I would read both policies, see if there is any duplication of service, etc. Both come highly recommmended, and we will not leave home without the GoodSam Emergency policy! (They even come change tires on your non-towing car on a 90 degree day!)

I think the information that we just got from Good Sam's is for the service like Sky Meds, they fly you home and bring your rig home. Cost = $100.00 per year. Glenn has a note in another topic about it being considerably cheaper with Good Sam's.
