Fireplace goes ZAP!!!
I have seen on here several threads about the fireplaces having an oder and about pulling it out and cleaning it. Well last night I started the fireplace and turned the heat element on as it was about 55 degrees outside. I started to smell what I tought was dust and was thinking tomorrow night after work I will pull the unit out and see what there is to cleaning it. I should have turned it off right then, because after about 45 minutes use, ZAP and the fireplace shot sparks and then went black. It popped the circut breaker, I waited several hours to go to bed making sure all was cool. Now tonight I will tackle the unit and see whats up. Anyone have and ideas what I need to look for or what damages I am probally am going to find.

I pulled the unit out last night, and youshould have seen the dust bunnies down behind the log, seems they would made the opening up of these a little easier to get inside a clean without taking off the wood trim which i had to drill the wooden plugs out to get to the screws hold the trim. I have the unit outside, didn't have a chance last night, but tonight after work, I will clean it and plug it in outside and see what happens....
