A Montana owner who has enjoyed the climate of Florida for a little too long??????? The red streak on the wings is a flush of anger because of the front graphics peeling!!

Glenn, They are major grasshoppers. They start out real small about 3/8 inch and are black in color. By the time they get done stripping your plants(overnight)you have a nice twig bush.

It is called an "Eastern Lubber". Bad news for plants! Check out this link! Follow the steps for the link closely to read the story on this thing:

1. Click on the link, 2. then go to the second page of images and 3.click on the third image from the left on the first row. 4. Enjoy

I forgot to mention, this is NOT my work. Someone else took the picture and provided the story and information to go along with it.

DW found the information on the internet after she saw Glenn's picture and winced like she does when she doesn't like things. It took her little time to find it. She is a wizard at finding crap like this on the internet.

Native Floridians call it a "Georgia Hopper". Don't ask me why.
