MOC has it's own language!

It's funny the cyberworld we live in these days. Steve and I find ourselves talking about fellow MOC members like we know them personally and have been friends for years! We usually call them by their log on names, like Ozz, Lonnie B, and bsmeaton. Only other MOCers can understand this...we even have developed our own language. Such as...

MOCer - a person who is a member of the Montana Owners Club and who may/may not post on the website.

MOCaholic - a person who is obsessed with checking the webpage of the Montana Owners Club at least 5 times a day, or someone who generates at least 3.5 average daily posts.

Monty-chondriac - a person, usually a member of the MOC, who is continually obsessing about some potential failure or malfunction of equipment.

Closet MOCer - a person who is in denial about their obsession to read the MOC and usually does so in private (this was Steve the first couple of months...)

Anybody else with a MOC language?

hahahaha - Tara,

As we discussed - The first three describe me well - 7.76 posts a day and dreaded fear when someone finds a new problem that I will develop it within a few days .

I also have a fear that I make the wrong assumptions on what some of the acronyms mean. For example I assumed DW means "Dear Wife", but perhaps what everyone else reads it as could be "Dumb Wife", "Divorced Wife", "$#@%* Woman". I hope I've made the right assumption or I'm in a lot of trouble.

Hey, thats pretty good Tara, you guys must have given that some thought. Or could it be maybe you FIT the second catecory like so many others, myself included?
Brad, I'm glad to say, you made the right assumption. It would be pretty hard to read these posts with both eyes swelled shut.

Montanatalk - The act of describing ones pride, adventures, improvements, and misgivings in ones Montana.

Montyphobe - A friend or family member that now avoids conversation with you because it always turns to Montanatalk.

MOCcool - The art of not showing your emotions when things start getting heated on the forum.

Tara - I love this kind of stuff. My contributions are:
MOC-a-sin = Posting an entry that is later deleted for improper content.
MOCmock = Jokingly making fun of another MOCer.
MOCmaker = One who recruits other owners to join MOC.
MOC-a-maniac = One with no life outside MOC.
MOCmate = Spouse who posts with separate ID.
HAMMOC = Members who are HAM radio operators (and who possibly also sleep between trees).

Needed this good laugh tonight! I really liked Monty-chondriac as I do laugh at some of our members getting rid of perfectly good equipment because someone else had a problem with it. Thanks Tara.
Happy trails............................

Oooohhhh, came up with a new one. Guess who this is.

Extreme Mod MOCer - a person who performs EXTREME modifications and upgrades to their Montana to the extent that it is no longer recognizable by the original "Old World Craftsmen" in Goshen! (You know who you are, and we love ya!).

But Please, I am an MOCer and I do not like to be mocked. To me it's M O C pronounced EM OH SEE and I don't like being mocked as I am none of the following...

mock
–verb (used with object)
1. to attack or treat with ridicule, contempt, or derision.
2. to ridicule by mimicry of action or speech; mimic derisively.
3. to mimic, imitate, or counterfeit.
4. to challenge; defy: His actions mock convention.
5. to deceive, delude, or disappoint.
–verb (used without object)
6. to use ridicule or derision; scoff; jeer (often fol. by at).
–noun
7. a contemptuous or derisive imitative action or speech; mockery or derision.
8. something mocked or derided; an object of derision.
9. an imitation; counterfeit; fake.
–adjective
11. feigned; not real; sham: a mock battle.
—Verb phrase
12. mock up, to build a mock-up of.

My Apologies Glenn! No MOCKing meant or intended...only MOCing!

tongue-in-cheek:

adj : cleverly amusing in tone; "a bantering tone"; "facetious remarks"; "tongue-in-cheek advice" [syn: bantering, facetious] adv 1: in a bantering fashion; "he spoke to her banteringly" [syn: banteringly] 2: not seriously; "I meant it facetiously" [syn: facetiously, jokingly

We need a theme song. My suggestion below is sung just like the old Mickey Mouse Club song.

M-O-Ceeeeeeee............. K-E-Yiiiiiiiiiiiiii........S-T-O-N-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I did the easy part, now Tara and the rest of you can write the lyrics . Take care.

That's too funny Wrenchtraveller, I started singing the same thing yesterday, my DW looked at me like I had gone bonkers, and said " It's supposed to go M I C .....", I just shut up and went about my business, I guess she just doesn't get it sometimes, bless her little heart.

Love it Wrenchtraveller! Perhaps we should have the song come up in the background on the web page.

Well then again, maybe we should just stick to singing at the campfire.

Hopefully, I am not stealing too much "thunder" by "finishing" the song Wrenchtraveler started, but here's my contribution:

Who’s a member of the club
That’s made for you and me:
M-O-C---K-E-Y---S-T-O-N-E

Hey there, hi there, ho there,
You’re as welcome as can be:
M-O-C---K-E-Y---S-T-O-N-E

MOC is COOL (Have a 5er)
MOC is COOL (Have a 5er)
Forever let us hold your banner high (high, high, high)

Come along and sing a song
And join the jamboree
M-O-C---K-E-Y---S-T-O-N-E

Now it’s time to say, “let’s roll,”
To all our company

M-O-C See you real soon
K-E-Y why? Because we like you.
S-T-O-N-E.

(Maybe it's the time I spent in the Air Force Band that makes me do these things. )

Larry
