F350 milage?

We havn't had our f350 long enought to make a very long trip in it yet(towing) I was wondering what some other people who are towing with them and what they were getting as far as milage? Also ours has the trip computor and I was curious as to how accurate they are. I will know the anwsers when we go full timing in about 5 months. I was just curious Now.. Thanks Jack

Hi there Wagonmaster, I have a single wheel F350 and I got 11-12 mpg pulling our last camper (32' Sprtsmen) to Texas and back driving the speed limit +/-5. We did a little worse on the first tankfull as when we left Iowa we had a nasty side wind that was pushing us around pretty good until the rain stoped. But from then on we averaged about 11.5 for the rest of the trip. That was all hand calculated. I don't have a lot fo faith in Ford's mpg readings on the upper readout. My standing's is if you leave it and don't reset it very often it will be pretty close by the time the tank is empty. Normally it is within a few tenth's. But I try not to look at it.

Ours is reaching that magic point where it finally gets to its peak mileage. On our 1999 and 2003 superduties that point was around 30k to 33k miles. This one has 28k. We average 11 to 13 mpg towing 14,360 lbs at 60-64 mph. The high end of that range is on flatland, no wind to speak of. In serious mountains it will drop to around 10.6. When the truck had around 7k miles it averaged a couple of mpg less than that and slowly got better.

Not towing, we now average 16-17 in town, 18-19 on the highway. That is over full tanks of fuel. Taking readings from the trip computer over short distances can seriously skew those numbers. When on winter diesel, subtract roughly 2 mpg from all numbers.
