2007 Dodge/Mercedes
I was working today at the local Dodge store. The new truck sales manager told me Dodge will have a 4500/5500 heavy duty Ram with Mercedes diesel engine and auto tranny for 2007. The 2500/3500 Ram will still have the Cummins engine. No way to verify if this guy knows what he's talking about or just blowing smoke. Anyway, it's a good rumor.

Here's another rumor. In 2007 Ford is supposed to have a 6.4L twin turbo diesel. About a month ago some guys from Magna Powertrain were here at my place for a week testing some of the new stuff. One day of that week some Ford guys showed up. They had one of these trucks that they were testing, but they wouldn't let us look at it. At least not up close.

I've heard the 2007 Dodge Ram 4500/5500 rumor also. That is what my father-in-law, who is a Dodge/Ford dealership general manager, was told.
Do a search on some of the Dodge forums and you'll come across reports of that rumor also.

As the top three (GM, Ford, Dodge) fight to be number 1, it makes our lives easier by having options to tow the Montana with. Should be interesting to see who comes out with what for 2007.

We live in Ford Country.Plants all around us.It is not uncommon to have several friends who work at various levels at Ford. The general topic on the 6.4l twin turbo is that it will be in the 07 super duties. Note that Navistar has the contract to build Diesel motors for Ford through 2012 and built or updated two plants to do so.Indianapolis and Huntsville. The Ford folks who SAY they know folks who work at those plants say the Re tooling orders for the 6.4L are already out. These are still unconfirmed by Ford. The 07's will be out in mid 06 so it won't be long before we all know what the Big 3 will be doing.

"Dodge will have a 4500/5500 heavy duty Ram with Mercedes diesel engine and auto tranny for 2007"
Wow! I'll have to start watching my local Dodge dealer for this rig! Sounds great! Hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg! What am I saying.... that's what diesel fuel costs!
Thanks for the rumor Palebluedot. And I hope all is going well with you in your clean up and repair efforts.
