I have 2,000 AA batteries in mine!!

No, not really...just two 12 volt Interstate Deep Cycles that it came with from the dealer.
Looking at the Optima Blue Tops on sale at AutoZone right now for $219.

1 x 12v Interstate. What am I missing here? Should I be looking at 6v and why?

Butch-- If you go to the Search engine at the top of the page and click on it, then type in batteries in the search subject you'll come up with 13 pages of threads with batteries in it! Some talk about the use and difference between the 12V and the 6V batteries and some have nothing to do with the subject here or your question but there are numerous threads here about the use of golf cart batteries!

One new Interstate Marine Deep Cycle 12V cranking battery that will be replaced with an Optima Blue Top in the very near future. The very near future time frame will be determined by whether or not this battery starts to behave itself and act like a battery should.
