Pete, we are not what we used to be, any of us.
The Commander at the VFW told me he saw that and had planned to act on it, I guess I just beat him to it.

Just read and thought I had to reply. I took one of my employees to the local National Cemetary to visit his father's grave. A beautiful new cemetary located a the local VA Hospital. While there observed a middle aged worker raising the American Flag. Half of the flag was resting ON THE GROUND while he was hooking up the flag. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. I e-mailed a friend that works at the VA. He gave me the address of the National Cemetary to file a complaint. My friend couldn't believe what we had seen either. Stated employee should be fired! I filed a complaint but haven't heard anything as of yet. How disrespectful at such a patriotic location. Still makes me sick to my stomach when I think about it.

I became very angry and disgusted with people a few years ago when it was the "in" thing to fly a flag. Some seemed to think that it didn't matter how it was flown, what shape it was in, or whether it was lighted at night. I called a local VFW when I saw one improperly displayed and it changed shortly thereafter. A veterans organization or the Boy Scouts will properly dispose of a flag.

I watched the children at my Grandson's school lower the Flag and fold it. They performed the ceremony with dignity and honor, never allowing the Flag to touch the ground. It was folded properly, they did as good a job as any Military Flag Detail that I have seen, and I have seen more than a few......Pete
