2011 Silverado Arrived!

The truck came in on the 30th of December, it is Metallic Steel Green, 3500 SB CC SRW Dmax and loaded. In a couple of weeks the dealer will install our Superglide that was used in our 2004 Chevy. I needed to get a 3" riser kit to lift the hitch because of the increased bed wall height.

This truck was made to tow, its really impressive.

Happy Camping!

Congradulations on the new TV. get many carefree miles from it.
Its too bad that we have to shim up our hitches to allow the 5er to connect properly, maybe the truck and rv industry will get together in the future, and fix this so we can just slap a hitch on without the shims.

Bob also interested in what the dealer will do with the wings on the 5th wheel pin box? As we have the same camper and with my new addition of Tri Glide pin box I need to find room at 90 degree turns.

The lift kit became available from Pullrite several years ago when the side walls of trucks increased in height. If your Superglide uses the Super rails system, this riser installs on the rails and between the hitch using the same holes. You need to get new frame brackets too because of the new frame, I also purchased 4 new (longer) mounting posts.

If for some reason, which my RV tech thinks is very remote, he will cut the "wings" off the back of the hitch if they come too close to the bed rails. They cleared my 2004 OK and the boxes are the same demension only higher on the 2011.

I dunno about all that hitch measurement talk, but . . . I sold my 2010 F-350 dually and bought a loaded 2011 GMC 3500 dually, and the dealer simply removed my Husky hitch from the Ford - I took it over and had it installed in the GMC. No problems, drove it from VA to Florida - works fine.

If your trailer towed level with your 2004 Chevy won't this make it "pin high" when you tow with the 2011 Chevy?

If you go from a previous 3500 DRW, in my case a 2005, to a 2011 3500 DRW the bed height is the same, it's the side walls that are a little higher. So far I have been fine, but haven't had to make a 90 degree turns either. An added note, SRW TVs may be a different story as there are differnt tires avail for them, DRW are rather limited.
