Restringing Daynite shades

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago we restrung a couple of our daynite shades. We took a lot of pictures.

Today has been a rainy day, so I took the time to figure out how to create a website and posted the pictures and some instructions on that site. It is a work in progress, but if anyone is interested, the URL is http://cocking.anikast.ca/Daynite/

Wonderful tutorial!! Got it filed for future use!

We had a grommet "fail" and allow the cord to slice its way through the thin metal of the divider (between day/nite sections). I was able to get a new shade through a dealer and drop shipment from Keystone in only 10 days. Cost was about $50, inc. shipping and tax, (if I recall correctly). I was impressed with the speed of the whole process.

Again, great job!

Thanks

You put a lot of effort into this web page and instructions John. Great job. I've had to "fix" a few of my day/nite shades as well. It's a lot of work. thanks for the info.

John,
Great job on the web page. Very good directions. We haven't had the pleasure of having to fix ours yet, but will refer to your web if and when we have to!

Thanks for being so thoughtful to share this with everyone. My only problem it seems is that everytime I read about someone repairing something, our rig immediately has the same kind of breakdown---at least I will have good directions---thanks again.

Thanks for sharing the info. We just happen to have one that needs replaced. Only problem, for some reason I couldn't print out your full instructions. So, when we are ready to restring, we will just turn on the 'puter and have at it. Thanks again.

One other thing you may want to add to your great instruction page that we found out a year or so ago is to drill and install a small screw to attach the end caps so they don't pop off and the blind starts to slide out and then you have one at an angle or have to take it apart to fix it.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

Yes, we had the slipping out problem too, but we got those shades replaced by Keystone. The screw idea is a good one. I'll try to add it when I edit the page. There are a few typos and other minor errors that I need to fix.

I had a problem printing out the instructions too, I could only get part of page one. I cut and pasted the instructions and they printed out fine. Hope this helps.
