Hi can anyone tell me what brake control you use to stop your 5er. What is the advantage or disadvantage of them thanks wally

Prodigy P3---I set it and that's been it--I had a cheap brand (don't remember the brand) and the first time I used my P3 I knew it was money well spent--I gives me a feeling of security when braking and it works really well--

Prodigy here. Have had others but they didn't compare with prodigy.

We don't have a 5th wheel but the Prodigy does a great job at stopping our Mountaineer TT. It provides smooth and efficient braking under all conditions for us.

My brake controller is built into the "King Ranch," F-350. But if I were to acquire one in place of it, it would be a Prodigy.

My brake controller is also built in my Duramax.
But I used a Prodigy before and I really liked it. The boost is a nice feature. They are very good controllers. I don't see how you could go wrong with a Prodigy.

Wally, the absolute best I ever used is the builtin controller in the Fords. However, no longer having a Ford, I had to go back to an aftermarket controller. I've used quite a few over the years and was never happy with any until I got a Prodigy. With that one, once I got it set, I never had to adjust it again. Just drive. No more did I have to adjust it for when the brakes are cold, adjust again after being on the road and it warms up, adjust again when it cools down, etc. Just set the Tekonsha Prodigy and forget it. It costs a bit more than others but man is it worth it.

My current one is the Tekonsha P3. It's the same as the Prodigy except it has digital readouts and some display options. And it also can control a trailer with hydraulic brakes (as you'd have with disc brakes on a trailer0 even though it's connected electrically in the truck. I don't really need the extra things and would be just as happy with the regular Prodigy. Both the Prodigy and the P3 have the boost feature, which is a good thing. It adjusts how much braking is applied at initial application, which helps when the trailer is heavier than the tow vehicle.

I also have the Prodigy. Had another brand for a smaller 5er and it was always needing adjusting. On sand, dirt, or asphault, it reacted differently. Prodigy, it is set and I go. Also, I currently tow on snow, ice, or asphault and breaking is consistent and sure each and every time - uphill or downhill stopping.

I have a BRAKE-SMART. Set it and forget. Are they still made?
