Axle Rating Sticker

This may have been answered before; but, I can't find it if it has. There has been discussions about a sticker that is somewhere on the unit that states the weight rating of the axles. I have a 2008 3400RL. Can someone tell me where this sticker is on the unit and what it should say to indicate whether I have the 6000lb or 7000lb axles. I don't find anything to indicate which I have. I do see a sticker on the left front corner that tells gross vehicle weight information; but, the only info regarding the axle ratings shows something like 6703lb per axle. So, I don't know, from this info, if it is saying that I have the 6000lb, or since it is stating 6703 is it saying I have the 7000lb axles. Any help in clearing this up would be much appreciated.

I had to crawl under the unit with a flashlight and look for it. It is actually stamped into the metal on the axle. Kind of small and hard to read, but it definitely says 7000 lbs. Mine was more towards the "driver's side", but I'm sure that can vary.

Good luck!

Buddy, if you only had 6,000 lb axles I don't think they would allow gross 6703 lbs. It is a dirty job but if you crawl under the unit you should find the info from the manuf of the axle on there somewhere. And while down there go ahead and look for opportunities to close up some places that didn't get put together so good that might allow critters to occupy some space. I got a can of spray foam at Lowes for around 3 bucks and filled a lot of gaps under there. Back to axles, reasonably sure you have 7,000 lbs. Mine are 6,000 lbs stamped on the plate on the left front side but I have an 06 3400RL.

Our sticker on the side of the unit was incorrect, it showed we had 6000lbs axles and not the 7000lbs axles. I had to crawl under and look to find that we did indeed have 7000lbs axles. You can find the stamp in the center of the axles. Keystone had incorrectly printed and installed 100+ labels on trailers in 2007 when they transitioned from the 6000 to 7000 pound axles.

Thanks everybody for the info. I was just trying to find out what the ratings were without having to crawl under the unit to look at the axle itself. My knees just don't like it when I get down on them and crawl around; but, it looks like that is what I am going to have to do. My sticker on the left front of the unit is really not very clear, or maybe I am just challenged when it comes to reading one of these things. It has multiple entries with figures on it for different things. The only thing I think I can understand is a line that says the gvwr (for one axle) is 6750lb. If that is truly what the rating is for one axle it is even more confusing since everyone else is talking about either a 6000lb or a 7000lb rating.

I had some discussions with Dexter and Keystone about axles a few years ago. At that time, I was told that the only differences between the 6k and 7k axles were the brake assembly and the springs; the actual axle tube is the same. The 7000 lb axles have a more aggressive brake than the 6000lb axles.

Unfortunately, we Canadians seem to have muddied the water, because our standard setting organization (CSA) does not accept the 7000 lb rating on the Dexter brakes. As a result, Keystone downgrades the axle rating to 6750 lb, to achieve CSA certification for those units that end up in Canada.

Perhaps this little tid-bit will help explain the apparent discepancy between the trailer rating and the axle ratings.

Thanks OntMont, that explains what that 6750lb rating on the sticker on the front of my RV is talking about. So, from this I assume I have the 7000lb axles. However, when my knees feel better I will try to slide under the unit and see what that sticker that I can see on the front axle says. Again, thanks everybody for the great info.
