fireplace heat

We have a 2005 3685FL (front living room) where the factory installed fireplace sits under the TV. We recently removed the original TV and replaced it with an LED style. Now we realize how much heat from the fireplace comes up and heats up that tv area. The wood between the fireplace and TV area gets quite hot. Does anyone see any danger in leaving the fireplace on for long periods of time under this senario. The fan does work in the fireplace but it is a drum type and doesn't do a very good job of pushing the air.

I can only tell you we had a 2002 3685 with same configuration, and kept the fireplace on constantly while spending an entire winter in Colorado Springs, and we had no problems. Of course our TV was not a flatscreen, but we have the same configuration in our 2010, ie fireplace under the TV which is a flatscreen, and we have run the fireplace for hours at a time in cool weather without problem.

We use our fireplace for heat (it has been on for hours) and have never had a problem.

2007 with the fireplace. We were concerned about the heat also, I broke out the Infra-red thermometer, the readings I got on it were safe, so we just Blazed away...
You will be fine, the issue we have had is loose wiring inside, but it will just stink, in my opinion, won't cause a fire after looking at it.
Seems the 2008-2009 units had fewer problems, and the newer units have had none as far as I know, readers please chime in on the wiring.
There are pictures here somewhere...
John Kohl, were you a victim of this?

My issue was a loose wire not wood getting hot.
Here is my post with pictures.

2011 Big Sky 3580RL, have run ours for many hours, no problems. Early morning, my recliner, cup of hot coffee with Baileys, fireplace on, as good as it gets.

If you have the room and make you feel more comfortable with it, do you have enough space between the fireplace top and the bottom of the shelf to install a piece of 1/2" insulation board ? It is the foam type with silver backing on each side. That would take a lot of the heat away from the tv area. Just a suggestion.
