2nd A/C unit

when we purchased our NEW 3150 we had Montana install a 2nd A/C. The problem was that it never worked right....never got the trailer really cool.

Well, the other day when we were having our legs replaced they checked the A/C and found that Montana installed the themostat sensor RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT A/C unit so the cooling would never work right.

go figure, you'd think that Montana would know where to install a sensor

I just had the 2nd AC installed locally. It kept cycling off quickly not cooling as expected. As you, I discovered the thermostat less than 6 inches from the AC. Also, there is was a minor gap between the ceiling and AC cover that allowed air to escape directly towards the sensor. I put a small bead of silicone along the edge which improved the performance dramatically!

I think the installer in some cases is not a service-man type. Or, in some cases, not too bright...

I had a friend with a cougar and the little remote sensor that we all loved so much was mounted on the ceiling 6"-8" from the AC it would cycle on and off till we changed to the CCC and put the t-stat on the wall.
Jim You and Ozz are right!!
