GPS Problems in SE USA

Here is an interesting article mentioning that GPS signals will be affected in the coming month for areas in southeast US.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/20/f...due-to-defens/

Interesting and curious?

I love the first comment: Cue X-files theme song...

Picture hundreds of RVers trying to get to Port St. Lucie and ending up in Slapout, Alabama...

Is this why our navagation system took us to Miami when we entered our home address (Land O Lakes)?

Oh great! It's a government schedule and they are known for missing schedules. I will be in the southeastern US including much of the noted area including the Bahamas on a cruise ship in March. I hope the cruise dudes remember how to use the old-fashioned sextent stars and sun guidance methods or we might end up in Cuba just in case the government has "slipped" the schedule.

Since the rest of our travels are AMTRAK, I'm hoping this doesn't affect the railroad tracks. I don't think they'll warp out of place from GPS signals going awry, would they?

These are aviation related. You can find out more on the FAA website. They will be testing the next gen system that includes GPS for air traffic control. We worked on that system before we retired.
