40 watt light bulb
I know the ac light over the dinette is suppose to be 40 watts because of the heat output. My question is: the bulb in the overhead light under the fan appears from the light output to also be 40 watts. I would like a little more light. Since it is further away from the ceiling would a 60 or 75w be to hot. Has anyone changed theirs. I will definitly adhere to what the forum members say.
Thanks, Lou

See if you can find a compact florescent bulb that will fit. More light for a lot less heat.

Check the fixture, it should tell you what the maximum wattage should be.

Ditto Jan on that one, you can get 100w equivalent CF's that only use about 30-40 watts. I haven't checked but there most likely is a sticker or label that tells the maximum wattage bulb in the fan light.

I also put in a florescent bulb in my fan globe, I also purchased a globe that was a little deeper where I could run a brighter florescent bulb in it. I did measure before I bought so the slide would not hit it. Its like a 100 watt light but only a florescent bulb that equivelant to that.

There are also some LED models that are out right now, use even less energy than the CF bulbs and more resistant to the vibrations of the fan.

I can agree as well on the high efficiency bulbs. We changed the spot lights over the plat form in our church with 15 watt bulbs. They have the efficiency of a much higher wattage and they really keep the heat down from what it was.
