2017 Fords

For those of you with a 2017 Ford. I read yesterday or the day before that is a recall on the parking gear NOT holding the truck. It stated to make sure you use the parking brake at all times till it is fixed.

WOW That is sad news. It may be a simple computer problem. Hope it's simple. I always use my emergency brake.

I believe it is only on the trucks with a gas engine.

Just heard that on local tv news. It is ONLY the 6.2 gas engine, F250 built at the Kentucky plant. Also, it involves a very narrow window of time (about one month or so). 6.7 diesel is not involved as they use a different tranny, I believe.

Good idea to use parking brake anyway. I always do for two reasons. 1. Takes stress off transmission, and 2, if the parking brake is not used for a very long time, then when you do need it the cable will probably be rusted inside the guide and it won't work at all.

I know many people just throw the gear selector into P and jump out. I have never understood why it's so difficult to simply step on that pedal and set the brake.
