GOT LUCKY!!!!!
Coming home from our Thanksgiving week-end trip, stopped to get diesel. Checked the tires like I always do. Front tire on drivers side about half flat. Looked a little closer, saw some steel sticking out. It was fixing to come apart on me. Put the spare on and made it on home. Shopping for tires now. They are Missions. Looking at the Michelin Rips pretty hard right now. Have read some good things about them.

They were the original Missions. My luck finally ran out. No damage, thankful for that.

Mark I just looked at tires, there were lots of deals this weekend with the black Friday sales. I have seen some bad reviews about the Michelin Ribs at Tire Rack.com, turned me away from them. With the weight of our campers, I'm going with BFG Commerical TA. SAMs Club has as good a price as I could find $141.00.

Mark I have a 2007 2955 put the BFG from Sams on it. I like them very well. Price was as stated above. By the way you might want to invest in tire pressure monitor. That could have alarmed you of the low tire. I run the hawk head on mine. They give you piece of mind.

I have towed about 20,000 miles with my Michelin Ribs. They look like brand new and never lose any air.
I really like them.
I just read the Tire Rack reviews and foundb nothing but praise for
Michelin Ribs.

MaPhilips,
Do you reckon that piece of steel would have bounced off some other brand of tire?
Don't see how you can blame Mission tires for a piece of steel in one of them.
Good luck.

Glad you noticed the problem while stationary...instead of seeing smoke off the back of your rig while moving down the highway! Nice truck, by the way.

I read the reviews on Tire Rack.com like helmick and saw nothing but good reviews. Also I looked back on this same topic and found where Lonnie gave his recommendations. He had the Michelins at the top of his list. Now I don't know Lonnie but he is a tire guy so that has to mean something. To Micheal and Camilla, thanks for the compliment on my truck.

I have about 7,000 miles on my Michelin XPS Ribs. My trailer is a little heavier than yours. The Michelin have been great so far, ride very smooth and with no signs of wear.

We traded our SOB in September. It had one year old Michelin Ribs that I could have had the dealer move onto the Monty. Looks like based on all the feedback on MOC, they would have handled the weight of the new rig no problem. Our axles weighed in at 11,300lbs with all our usual stuff on board. I installed G614's right after we took possession. Hope they do what they're supposed to without fail. Only running them at 100psi. That's good for 3550lbs load per tire. Could probably go to 95psi.

Here is some of what I've read at Tire Rack
Here is the link
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....eModel=XPS+Rib
This is in the first post,
There is one very real and negative problem with these tires (6) that will cut the tire mileage short......DRYROT....They are cracking on the sidewalls, not inspected the thread area yet. I am attempting to have Michelin warranty all 7 tires on a prorated basis.
May just be an isolated problem, but for my size camper the cash I'll save will buy a TPMS.

Maphillips,
I guess I had too much turkey over Thanksgiving because I do not understand what you mean when you say the steel was coming from the inside. Even the little smilie did not make the meaning any clearer.
I would appreciate a clarification.
Thank you,
HamRad

HamRad, The steel was from the steel belts sticking out of the tires. Sorry I didn't make myself clear on that.
