Does anyone know, with certainty, what the max tire pressure is for the 8 lug Alcoa aluminum wheels that came on my '06 3400?

When I queried Treadit, they told me that the 8-lug aluminum wheels would take a G-load rated tire then I imagine that you could use as much maximum pressure that the tire mfg allows. I don't have a 3400 and I only have the 6-lug wheels. I wanted to upgrade to a G-rated tire but they said I couldn't with my existing wheels; I would have to upgrade to 8-lug wheels, then that would mean I'd have to change drums also. No go for us right not; pension only stretches so far!

Phil the Alcoa's I got to replace the Tredit Aluminum wheel after 2 cracked, were stamped on the back side and were rated for 110 lbs. for the G614's. I glad to see Keystone started using the Alcoa's they are the best. GBY....

I know "with certainty" that your Montana did not come with Alcoa wheels. We could only wish.

Unless you changed wheels from what is in your signature, they are Tredit wheels imported from China with an original factory stamped rating of 80psi in the casting that was later tested by Tredit at Keystones request to verify the wheels could take 110psi which they passed. As a result, the brand new Montana wheels are stamped 110 psi, and the 07, 08 wheels got stickers applied at the Montana factory indicating the increased rating to 100psi. My stickers are visible on the wheel between the spokes. Your 06 most likely will not have the stickers, nor will the casting stamp indicate 80psi, but they are the same wheel as they always were and still are. Call Tredit for the straight skinny. I doubt a tire Dealer would mount high pressure tires without some indication they can handle 110psi.

Phil, I just went out and checked the back side of my rims, I have the 8 lug ones. The only thing I could find that I understood was "MAX LOAD" 3042 lbs. There were other codes on the back side of the spokes, like DOT-T.
Now I have the August 2006 build 2007 Model year 2955RL. 5200# Axel, 3042# rims and 3450# G rated tires at 80 psi. The rims and tires both say made in China.
If someone can find where the rim psi rating is, a picture of where that location is, would be very helpful.

You have to take the tire off the rim to see the stampings, and/or sticker.

Wayne ???? Those are your pics! It sure doesn't look like you removed the tire from wheel. Maybe you meant remove the wheel from the hub?

The sticker is hard to see around that brake drum. I actually found mine from the outside while washing the wheels by coincidence. The rest of the stampings are well hid on the backside of the wheel, almost impossible to see until you remove the wheel.

I was able to see all the stampings in the rim by looking behind the wheel between the tire and the break drum with a flashlight. Its the sticker I have yet to find, if I need to remove the tire from unit to find the sticker, or lack of a sticker, I'm not going to do that until I need to do so.

Technically - if you have the TR6 wheel, it meets the higher specification whether you have the sticker or not. In discussion with Tredit, they just pulled a sample of wheels out of inventory in late 2006 and tested them to the new specification Keystone asked for. When it passed, they sent the Montana plant a pile of stickers to relable the existing inventory. The TR6 is exclusive to Montana and the manufacturing process has never changed since they first came out in 05. Based on the re-test, ALL TR6 wheels meet the 3,750 lbs @ 110 psi. If you call or write to Tredit, they should be able to give you the scoop. They might even send you stickers.

Brad, thanks for the links and info. I heard the term Alcoa aluminum wheels thrown about and just assumed that's what mine were. Obviously I an not as informed about these things as you are. I appreciate you taking the time to clear this up for me. I am in Elkhart now and will visit the Tredit Company and seek the stickers for when I need new tires so I can label the rims and get the higher pressure tires.......

Phil,I've been rolling on my G14's for a couple of thousand miles and have noticed no difference in the ride.On arrival,ever thing is still in place
Picked them up for 250.00 a tire,mounting,balance and steel valves included..
I've been breathing a little easier since.

Seems that these common questions should be in a FAQ or something. BTW my axles say 6000# on a new 10th Ann. 3585SA. My GVWR has been adjusted accordingly on the units loading plate. I have the Tredit TR-6 wheels and the Marathon tires. I wrote to KS customer service and await their reply. I have checked several units sold here in Canada and all have lower weight ratings than listed in the brochure or on the web site. No 7000# axles here so far. I promised, in another post, to post the reply from KS and I will if I ever get one.
