Mice in the Montana

Found signs of mice so set the traps. Got rid of the parents and 4 kids, but not sure on the number of babies left. Any suggestions on preventing more mice moving in? Anyone find a good solution? What about the units that put out sound waves.

Appreciate your suggesyions.

We use this stuff called fresh cab. There are small bags with some kind of natural deterrent in them. Seems to help. Not 100%, but I think it does slow them down

Fresh cab works for the basement and in the bottom of cabinets, but it's difficult to get it anywhere else. They don't like steel wool when packed around openings that weren't sealed, but there's still going to be some elsewhere (wheel wells, etc.) where that won't work. Sometimes you've got to just use traps.

If you have six point leveling, then you have four huge entry points into all the area under the floor. I tried the sonics...didn't work! I went to traps before we.left florida for the summer...got rid of them. When we were in santa fe, had another invasion. Fresh cab was used after deploying traps and getting rid of two. Also decided to try harder at closing those four big holes, this time with success. I used sheet metal for the mid leveler holes with 1/4" screen molded to fit the bottom rectangular opening of the welded on bracket that the leveler assy bolts to. This is held in place by gorilla tape. The front landing gear gear holes are closed up with 1/4" screen using the propane door as the easy way to lay in screen sections. I used gorilla tape to hold roughly in place, then used rodent deterrent expanding foam to "lock"it to sheet tin and hold the sections together. I made a pattern of the leveler ram assy so that I could cut the thin sheet metal and screen used in front to conform to the jacks. No more mice in santa fe after doing this and haven't had any issue in gallup or here in williams, az. I am sure I have locked the buggers out of this nice condo! Also look in your passthrough where any pex water lines go through the floor. In the 3800 and other like models with separate washer and dryer cabinets, water lines come in at front of passthrough and up under bed. So once in the bottom, mice can enter the rv that way. I sealed this penetration while in florida with bronze wool followed by the anti-rodent expanding foam. Also, in our model with steps leading up to bath/washer and dryer cabs/bedroom, the bottom step beside the entry cabinet had an area about 3/4" wide by 5" tall that led into the basement area. I closed this with wood. Backside of the two wooden vents on the face of the two steps I put fiberglass window screen...probably should be aluminum screen. Hope this helps you. I do have a paper pattern of the leveler profile if someone needs it. Not perfect, but allows one to close up real close to the rams. Fresh cab bags are now in passthru! John

3X on the Fresh Cab! I've used it ever since I've been RVing and it sure seems to keep the little critters away inside the unit. I park the Monte in the Montana Home out at the farm and I use three sound units in there also- two that plug into the outlet and one that is a box-type unit that has a setting for silent, medium, and loud sound creation. I run it on silent but have not had any of the gang in the building and it is right next to the farm field and a grassy windbreak area.

I can tell you how catch every mouse that gets in your camper while it is not being used. You need a bucket with a hole drilled through the top about 1/4 inch from the top a can like a Pringles potato clip can or a coffee can. Drill a hole exactly in the center through both ends of the can. Get a medal rod a little smaller than the holes holes you have drilled. Put a row of peanut butter around one end of the can assemble the parts. Then put a board up to the can. The mice walk up the board step over on the can the can rotates and drops the mouse in the bucket that you have put a liquid a few inches deep in. This will catch every mouse that gets in your camper all winter.

I don't think there's a fool proof way to keep all mice out. Rope lights completly around the rig will keep pack rats out.

mlh-- Good idea but what about those of us that live in the COLD COUNTRY and the liquid in the bucket freezes. I'd more than likely put some cheap anti-freeze or go to a local shop that services cars and trucks and ask for some of their USED anti-freeze they've got when flushing a radiator and put that in the bottom of the bucket.

Rondo that is why I said liquid. I got the idea from a man in Pennsylvania. This guy was a true American original. A person you never forget. If you are lucky you meet a few of them. He had caught 20 some over several months in his old cabin.

Three years and no mice or rats. You need power for these but they work. Eliminated mice in garage and Montana. We have two in the Montana. I think they are great. Even eliminated bugs with the more advanced model. Stink bugs hate these things!!! FYI

Been using rid a rat. Www.rid-a-rat.com, no problems anymore. We do a lot boondocking. They are strob light, put underneath the trailer.
They really work.

We have two pictures of mice caught in traps right underneath the electronic pest repellents made by Victor, the mouse trap people. Called and asked, if I can't hear them how do I know they work? Never would answer my question. So, my answer to them was obviously they don't. Don't think it's possible to seal them out. Too many entry holes in the frame. If you take the basement wall down that separates the basement from the floor of the trailer,it's all open down into the frame.

The Yooper system is use dryer sheets spread them on the floor in the cupboards in any thing you can think of. you can buy a big box a wally world cheap and go crazy and if you want use the smelly ones they even work better. I have used this method for years and no mice, squirrels, or any thing you do not want.

Beware of using anti-freeze in the rolling bucket trap if you have loose dogs. They will drink it and it is deadly poison. The rolling bucket trap works great, use it on the farm all the time in the feed shed, catch two or three a month. In Texas, don't have to worry about freezing too often in our part of the state.

Are you seeing the rodents primarily while your rig is in storage? Or are you picking them up in RV Parks?
