an easy job

cracked the small window on the end of the dining room slide. I put some clear tape on it for now. I called a monty dealer he said they just put in a high grade plexi glass now, cost between $80.00 to $100.00, I'm wondering if anyone has done a DIY on this small window? Its the sliding one, not the fixed part. doesnt look that hard to take the glass out and have a piece of plexi or the tempered glass put in myself. Need some opinions, suggestions, thanks

I had posted this problem sometime back and recieved no reply. The dealer was "wrong", so I attemped the job myself (who wants plexiglass window?) It was a really easy job, ordered the tinted glass from a glass company, a glass cutter. The outside rubber seal pulls out, the old glass is "glued" in with a glaze or putty.used a hairdryer to soften the putty, pried the broken glass out real easy to use as a pattern. traced it out on cardboard, then carefully cut the new glass used a glass putty to "glue" the glass in, then just work the rubber seal back in. Thats it!! and cost was about $12.00, and No plexiglass nor a $100.00 job. takes about 30 minutes . Just in case someone gets a broken window in the monty. this was single pane, not double pane.

Thanks for sharing this.....I have a crack in two of my living room slide windows. Note serious cracks but I've wanted to replace them.
