Generator Decision

Opps almost forget but I saw it on line for $1799 and comes with a battery-and oil and a RV abdapter.I have no idea what you paid but this price seems pretty good for a quality quiet generater.Of course depending on its ability to run my AC.

Harleyrider, we have the Yamaha 3000 SEB, that's the one with the boost which enables you to start the AC with no problem. We do have the 15,000 BTU unit and Glen has tested it and it worked well. We'll get more use of it as we start camping in parks in Canada next week. They have no hookups. We'll keep you posted.

Hi fellow travelers:
We are planning on a generator, and probably one of the suggestions, here, (a Honda 2000 with the liklihood of buying a second soon, Yamaha 3000 or Honda 3000). If we went with the larger, heavier units, is there any way to install either in the front compartment and run it from there? Was thinking of putting in a small fan to blow over the unit whenever it was running, and only running it with the door open. We have a new 2955, and it seems that the space would be adequate, though haven't measured. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. Dave

R.C. & Patty, did you use your new generator when you were up in Montana earlier this month? If so, how did it work?

We purchased the Honda 2000 when it was on sale at Camper World. We used it extensively on a 23 day trip out west. It worked flawlesssly for everything but the A/C. We were above 5000 feet most of the trip, so we lost some power (13% for every 1000 feet above 5000). Didn't read the directions first, so I didn't open the vent valve on the gas cap. It was one of those male moments when I was forced to read the instruction manual. Eventually, if we need the A/C, we'll get a second one and the cable. It fits perfect on the basement slide tray and is light enough to handle easily. I imagine it's a lot like trucks and trailers. There's one out there to suit everyone. The better ones are all quiet and dependable. What I like is the light weight. We use ours boondocking in the mountains, so running the A/C isn't a big priority.

Bought a Honda 3000, put it in the front bin of the Monty, bought a 25 foot 30amp cord to make everything reach. Run the air or a/c whichever is most important. Works fine, don't even have to move it when it needs gas.

Sounds like you've got a nice addition to your Montana, gitrdun. Just be careful that none of those fumes are going up into the bedroom. It's nice that you don't have to move it.

Well thanks to Judy and Glen and others as well I bought the Yahama Ef3000iSEB the one with boost.I was very impressed in how quiet this thing is.Filled it with oil,preped the battery.put oil in it.Turned the key and it started right up.Did I say how quiet it is.I am installing a front mount receiver hitch on my truck.Thats where I belive I will carry the generator-also got the nice blue cover for it.Its a tad on the heavy side but its manageable for me.It really is nice and i`am very happy with my decision.It will be so nice to bring it up to my storage area and be able to work on the inside of the Montana without sweating to death.Not to mention those times and its happened to us that the power goes out at a camp ground.Also bought a "lock alarm"for it.Its an alarm that has a 15 foot steel cable attached to it.if any one tries to cut the cable or mess with the lock a 130 debical alarm sounds.It came with a 2 year factory warrenty but I also purchased another 2 years on it.for a total of 4 years.A Yahama dealer right around the corner from me said he would honer the warrenty.Which i thought was nice considering I didn`t purchase from him.
