Replacement tires

After our first summer with Goodyear Marathon 235/80R/16 and two blowouts within a week, I'm ready to replace them with an American made set. Anyone have any suggestions for replacement tires with at least an E or higher weight rating?

Goodyear G614's just look on the backside of your rims and look for a sticker or stamp that says they are rated for 110P.S.I NOT 80 P.S.I or you will have to look at other options,you did not state what year Montana you have or Model and that info would help us give you more options

If an E load tire will work with your rig, Firestone TransForce LT tires are what we have used for many years.

I put Michelin XPS Ribs on mine 7 years ago. Over 20,000 miles on them, still look practically new, and never even a low tire. They will age out long before they wear out.

It's a 2014 3582RL. 39 ft long

You have one of the newer heavier Montana's like me and Yep you are good to go with Goodyear G614's if you want American made,all Monty's after I think 2011 rims can handle 110psi G614,s, YES they are pricey but you will have piece of mind and that is worth ALOT[quote]quote:Originally posted by Will R

Few things are more important than the tires. For us, G614's.

Will-R, with a 2014 3582RL I would sure be thinking about putting on a set of Goodyear G614's like a couple guys have suggested. It isn't just the danger of having a blow out and the damage it can cause, it certainly is a safety hazard anytime you are forced to be parked on the shoulder of any roadway.

One of my goals while RVing is never to experience a blow out of flat tire. I have run G614's on both my Montana's and a TPMS. I feel like I have the best available tires on my unit plus I always know exactly what their temperatures are and what PSI they are holding.

We are looking at replacing the ST tires that came on our 2014 3725RL too.... Just sounds topic scarey!. Why doesn't Keystone put the safe tires on it to start with????

As explained to me by a former president of Keystone it's a matter of cost. RV's, unlike cars, are sold by dealers who sell a number of brands and if two units look similar customers buy based on price. And it isn't just the tires. Poor quality backflow preventers and other issues you hear about here on the forum all add up to thousands of dollars which the president felt would make Keystone less competitive sitting on the dealers lot.

I also own the 3582 RL. I bought it on a Thursday and before leaving the dealers area I took it to Discount Tires and had four Bridgestone 250s put on it. Discount gave me a $75.00 trade in for the Trail Kings that the rig came with. Tires and brakes are the most

I am curious about the Bridgestone R250's. On 16" it shows weight rating as 3,042 lbs. The Marathons, Road Kings, etc, although bad tires, are rated at 3,542 lbs. Your axles are 7,000 lb axles. If I read the chart correctly, the tires now became your weak link. Again, maybe there is a higher rated R250 that I didn't see. The two tires most often mentioned on the forum are the G614 (which is an option on Montana's) or Sailun's. Both are G rated tires. They both exceed the axle rating. Which, goes back to the other question - why Keystone sells with the inferior tire. Either the dealer ordered it that way or the customer did. Both the dealer and the customer know what they are looking for - the best price. The local Montana dealer orders the base unit with the eye candy options. No G series tires, no slide toppers, no legacy package. I made all of those same decisions with my first Montana. Thanks to the knowledgeable people on this forum, I have used G614's on my last two Montana's. And, I also run TST 507 Flow Thru TPMS. You will find endless tire suggestions on the forum, with some people using LT tires on lighter units. but the G614 and Sailun's are by far the most popular tires used by MOC members. If budget is critical, Sailun's may be your answer. If you want a U.S. made tire the G614 is more expensive but has a wide following.
